19.10 ARTIFACTS

(see also HELP ARTIFACT_TRADEINS, HELP ARTIFACT_TRANSFERS, HELP ARTIFACT_SHOP)

Artifacts are special items that can be purchased only with bound credits. Artifacts can be purchased using the Artifact Shop, accessed via ASHOP (Read HELP ARTIFACT_SHOP for more information). They will reset into your inventory frequently, which means they cannot be loaned out, or stolen(!), for very long. Some only work for the owner. They never decay. They cannot be changed to reset to anyone else's inventory, so do not buy artifacts of any kind if you intend to sell them.

Artifacts can be broken up into three broad types: personal artifacts, manse artifacts and beasts. Each of these types is listed below, with helpfiles for their various subcategories. Some artifacts can be purchased with Credits, while some other artifacts can only be purchased with 'Aethergoop'. Further details can be found in HELP AETHERGOOP.

------------------
PERSONAL ARTIFACTS
------------------

Personal artifacts come in two types: runes, which (depending on the type) may be attached to jewellery or weapons; and artifacts which are items in-and-of themselves. The helpfiles are careful to indicate which type is which.

A Note on Runes
o Runes can be attached to a piece of jewellery or a weapon with the
following syntax: ATTACH <rune> TO <item>.
o Attaching an artifact rune to any item will make it permanent and
cause it to reset to the rune's owner.
o Attaching an artifact rune to a piece of jewellery will also add 10
     extra enchantable charges to it.
o You can only have one rune of each category attached to a piece of
jewellery or a weapon, and there is a maximum of ten runes of any
     type that can be attached.

Personal artifacts have been split into five broad categories, which can be found in the following helpfiles.

- HELP ARTIFACTS WEAPONRY
o Lists artifacts which modify or improve weapons or offensive items.
o See also HELP ARTIFACTS WHIPS, which details the damage whip artifacts.
- HELP ARTIFACTS COMBAT
o Lists artifacts which add to your offensive or defensive ability
      in combat
- HELP ARTIFACTS TRADE
o Lists artifacts relating to trade and trade skills.
- HELP ARTIFACTS UTILITY
o Lists artifacts which improve your travel, survival, or influence
      abilities.
- HELP ARTIFACTS MISCELLANEOUS
o Lists other artifacts that do not fit into the other categories.

---------------
MANSE ARTIFACTS
---------------

Manse artifacts enable you to add special objects and effects to your aethermanse (a player house - see HELP MANSE for more details). Aethership artifacts enable you to upgrade your aethership (see help aetherships for more details).

The two helpfiles which list these artifacts are as follows:

- HELP MANSE ARTIFACTS
- HELP AETHERSHIP ARTIFACTS

-------------------------
BEASTS AND MANSE DWELLERS
-------------------------

Beasts and manse dwellers are both types of pet. Beasts can be ridden like any ordinary mount, but are uniquely customised. Manse dwellers are creatures that live in your manse or aethership. For more information on either beasts or manse dwellers, consult the following helpfiles.

---------------
HOW TO PURCHASE
---------------

Artifacts can be purchased with bound credits or with aethergoop.

Please refer to ASHOP or HELP ASHOP.

--------------
ARTIFACT GIFTS
--------------

To buy artifacts as gifts for another person, please refer to ASHOP or HELP ASHOP.

ASHOP <id> BUY [AS GIFT FOR <person>] [WITH <CREDITS/AETHERGOOP>]

Gift artifacts are purchased with unbound credits. When you buy a gift, it will be expertly wrapped into a present for your recipient. You can then deliver the gift yourself, or if you choose the delivery option, it will be mailed to the recipient for you (and will arrive with no small amount of fanfare!).

Each artifact gift includes a special notecard to your recipient, and will include the personal message you include. If you do not wish to include a message, simply do not specify one and a generic note wishing the recipient well shall be enclosed. The notecard will include your name so that the recipient will know who to thank.

--------------
OTHER REQUESTS
--------------

Customization of most non-mobile items is also possible, altering the appearance as per your specifications as well as how the object decays and resets. For more information, see

- HELP CUSTOMISATION

For any other requests or special needs, email support@lusternia.com. Please be very clear as to what you want to purchase and what you believe it will cost. This is especially true in cases where you may be claiming a discount, or other special consideration.
