19.10.9 ARTIFACT TRADEINS

(see also HELP ARTIFACTS, HELP ARTIFACT TRANSFERS, and HELP AUCTIONS)

Artifacts may be traded in, by the owner only, for bound credits.

Artifacts are traded in at two-thirds value, based on the current price of the artifact. If it sells for 300, you'll get 200 in trade. If it sells for 400, you'll get 266 in trade. And so forth.

You may also upgrade certain artifacts that have different "levels" (like regenerations runes have 3 levels). The cost of upgrading is the difference between the two artifacts.

Commands
--------
ARTIFACT <artifact/item> VALUE
o Check what the tradein value will be.
o If there are artifact runes on the item, this will list each rune
    individually and their worth.

ARTIFACT <artifact> TRADEIN [CONFIRM]
o This is the command to make the trade-in. You will be asked to confirm and
once confirmed, the artifact will be immediately and irrevocably
    destroyed.
o You will receive bound credits at 2/3 the value of the artifact.
Bound credits may not be transferred to other players.
o Dingbats have since been retired from the game. See HELP DINGBATS regarding tradein of former dingbat artifacts.

ARTIFACT REMOVE <rune> FROM <item> [CONFIRM]
o This is a special command to remove artifact runes from items. For
example, artifact weapon runes must be removed in this manner to receive
    the artifact credits.
o All artifact runes are traded-in at 2/3 the value as with any other
    artifact tradein.
o If it is the only rune left on an item, that item will start to decay.
o EXCEPTION: Glass and pipe runes cannot be removed, you must trade in
    the entire object.

ARTIFACT <artifact> UPGRADE COST
o View the upgrade cost to the next level of artifact.
o The upgrade cost is the difference between the cost of the upgraded artifact and what you paid for your current artifact.
o Only certain artifacts can be upgraded.

ARTIFACT <artifact> UPGRADE [CONFIRM]
o Upgrade to the next level of artifact.
o The upgrade cost is the difference between the cost of the upgraded artifact and what you paid for your current artifact.
o Only certain artifacts can be upgraded.

ARTIFACT <old artifact> SUBSTITUTE <new artifact> VALUE
o Value of substituting a new artifact for an old artifact (basically
the value of the old artifact).
o Only available if the new artifact is an upgraded version of the old
    artifact.

ARTIFACT <old artifact> SUBSTITUTE <new artifact> CONFIRM
o Old artifact must be in inventory and NEVER have been attached to
any other item (i.e., jewellery or swords).
o Substitutes the new artifact for an old artifact.
o New artifact swaps places with the old artifact before old artifact
    is deleted.
o Refunds in full the value of the old artifact in bound credits.

NOTE: The result of a tradein is to give you Bound Credits. These Bound
Credits will now appear separately on CREDIT REPORT, and can only be
spent on purchasing other artifacts or learning skills.

CUSTOMIZATION HAS NO TRADEIN VALUE
----------------------------------
The trade-in value does not include any credit for customizations. The value or cost of customizations is lost when you trade in an item. This means if you get an item customized with a custom description, or if you get your item to reset to your inventory, or if you get your item set to non-decay, none of this will have any trade-in value.

LIMITATIONS
-----------
Many things may not be traded in at all:
- Pets may not be traded in.
- Collars of Dracnari Beastmasters may not be traded in (once attached to a
  mount).
- Manse miniature artifacts purchased with credits may not be traded in (once
  activated).
- Item customizations (non-decay, descriptions, reset) may not be traded in.

Other exceptions may be added from time to time. Please be sure to check with Estarra directly if there is any doubt.
