Player Gossip: Madame Listener
Tanula, the self-styled Madame Listener, has set up a tea shop at the pilgrim’s encampment right by Tilibe’s shop! She has invited any and all to come drink some tea and spill some tea, as she loves to listen to the hot gossip of the Basin of Life. While the location of her tent is close enough to hear most of the gossip that occurs amongst the pilgrims and those visiting, she is interested in the gossip that is less known and willing to read the tea leaves of those who visit and drink of the tea she offers. Keep in mind, however, that she’s a firm believer in too much tea spoiling the appetite, so limits both her tea readings and gossiping.
You can share gossip with Madame Listener by visiting her and saying “I heard that…” or “Did you hear that…” and spilling the tea with her. While she is ever eager for more gossip, too much gossip from a single source can create an imbalance. As such, the more gossip you share in a weave the less likely it will be passed on. Like all things, this gossip is subject to the laws of entropy and will age out of recollection or be mis-remembered over time.
So what does that all mean? In short, Madame Listener is a means for player gossip to enter the game, but it will be kept separate from the current affairs gossip you are used to at the pilgrim’s encampment so that actual event and content updates still have a clear and irrefutable source. There is not currently an outlet for the gossip being gathered by Tanula as a library of gossip is being built up, and the rather sophisticated entropy system being tested. Note that gossip is logged and monitored, and inappropriate gossip will be handled and addressed as is deemed appropriate.
Once the gossip starts being used, if you hear some that is hateful or inappropriately targeted, please ISSUE this at once. As this is player provided gossip and subject to entropy, there may be cases where the gossip has spelling or grammatical issues, or is inappropriate without being hateful or targeted; some mild spelling/grammar issues may need to be overlooked, but otherwise please submit a BUG that includes the gossip and what is wrong with it.
