Part 1 - There Once Was a Girl in the Wilde by Eleana
Merit for February 2010
There once was a girl in the Wilde
Who laughed and played and smiled
She was always flying on her broom
You could never find her in her room
But a problem, this little witch did have
A good night's rest, she'd never had
It wasn't that she tossed and turned
For just falling asleep, she always yearned
For as long as she could remember
She'd never been able to slumber
So this young witch was oh so sad
For all the dreams she never had
Throughout the forest, she did explore
Asking Druid and Wiccan, from door to door
Her permanent insomnia, she wanted it gone
But for her question, no answers were drawn
One day she went to a Wiccan elder
Who gave her hope, but could not help her
"While I don't know what to do with you,
Outside the forest, maybe some do."
So off she went, on a journey of discovery
Under each rock she looked, and in every tree
Across the whole Basin, this young witch flew
Hoping, hoping for a magical brew
She went first to a great big city
Wishing someone there might have pity
Those Cosmic Guardians knew some spells
One to slumber, that would be swell
But no one there could help her case
Her state of sleeplessness could not be replaced
And so she left with a heavy heart
No hope from Guardians, she must now depart
Her travels brought her to distant lands
Yet for her sleep, no one could understand
How one can go without an eye's rest
"Maybe it's a curse, maybe you've been blessed"
Falling into despair, she didn't know where to turn
One other place, she had not yet returned
For originally, she was from the Wyrden Woods
But from that past, there was nothing good
She knew her mother had died in that forest
A simple Wiccan, who was also a florist
Why her mother was targeted, cursed and killed
She would never know, and with fear she was filled
But made the trip she did, and went into the dark
Cautiously at first, but with an increasing spark
If she died, so she died, and so be it
She would not back down, she would not quit...
