Nightmares of Insanity: Part I Erion, the Faeslayer by Ialie

Runner Up for March 2005

A sound heard I, In the night
Alerting my sensitive ears
But the evil presence I then felt
Confirmed my deepest fears

I was high in the treetops
Above the Earthen Gate
As I watched him slowly venture
To descend upon a fae.

"Now's the time", I thought
Before its much to late
To kill this bastard taintling
And end his reign of hate.

With vengeance in my eyes
And a growl in my throat
I prepared to battle this evil
But suddenly I choked!

I was locked within a grip
No mortal could have held
And when I heard mocking laughter
I know I must have paled

No longer could I stop him
As he approached a gentle child
Her hair of sparkling silver
Was reflective of the wilds

Erion gazed upon her fondly
And gently stroked her hair
But her bright eyes did not see
The malice in his stare.

It was far too late for her
When she gazed back into his eyes
And he yanked her roughly towards him
To impale her with a knife.

Little sound was heard
As she slumped to the floor
And Erion knelt down quickly
To feast upon the gore

Frozen in my place
I could not shut my eyes
My innocence was lost
With the fae it too had died.

Suddenly released
I fell limply to the ground
The laughter in my mind increased
Drowning out all sound.

Upon me, he too advanced
But my mind was far from there
And this he did noticed
As he graced me with his stare

"My hunger…. little faeling"
"Unfortunately is sate"
"But do not worry little morsel"
"For you I shall wait."

With that be began to fade
Blending into the night
His eyes left lingered laughing
Chilling me with fright.

Safe within my bed
I was much disturbed to find
I woke sobbing for a fae
That existed only in my mind.
