Public News Post #771

Forests and Deceptions

Normally I keep quiet over such things, and content myself to read over
these public news postings for a chuckle or two to start my month -
However, this particular statement from the Regent of the Northern
Forest struck me rather off-guard, and enough to warrant ceasing my
silence to respond in kind. Do forgive me if I become a bit crude.

Oh, Serenwilde, how predictable of you! Playing along with this facade
of Decency and Fidelity to your word only so long as it remained
convenient to your ends. Why, waiting until the very moment that
Faethorn had pledged it's loyalties to you, to announce your foul
intentions of slaughtering any thought of respect than any in the basin
had for your "honor," was exquisite indeed! To think, you'd even forced
the Queen's support by raising more filthy Ladies of the Moon to
intimidate her into submission only by violating your oaths in the first
place; snatching up every fae you found within her realm regardless of
their personal wishes. How ironic is this, in our day and age, that the
Forests of Serenwilde and Glomdoring switched places thus? Mother Night,
Herself, is proud of your deceptions! Brother Crow caws of your
trickery!

And for what reason? Was what we asked so harsh? Did it intimidate you
so, ruining your lives so profoundly? We wanted nothing more than to be
accepted for what we are, a part of Nature. We wished for nothing more
than the protection of our own, the fae who choose to follow the Mother
as we of the Night Coven do, and that Her Daughters of Night remained
protected from those in your forest who wish them harm. And lastly, what
else did we wish for? Nothing more than free passage into your villages
from those of our forest who aren't enemied! Goodness, can that be
right? We, as a request for the services we provided, as a PAYMENT,
-asked- to spend money in your villages. To AID your commerce. And yet
these humble requests were too much for mighty Serenwilde to withstand.
Breaking her pride right down the middle, being forced to reason with
the Wyrden, assuredly.

To think I once even entertained delusions of finding peace in the
North, uniting our forests in harmony to better serve Nature and the
Spirits. Now I know why this can never be, for you see, the Seren are
resistant to any sort of change. Glomdoring always changes and grows...
We alter our outlook, we change how we do things, and we even go so far
as to help Serenwilde in their greatest time of need, for a few paltry
favors in turn, and this is how they should respond. They scorn and hate
us, simply for the sake of hating. For Spite. Even if Glomdoring had
ever wished to be friendly with those of the North, they would forsake
our most valiant efforts. I may not speak for my forest as I scribe
these words, or perhaps even my guild, but I can assure you I speak
rather vehemently for myself when I say, "Congratulations, Merciless
Forest". You may not have fooled others in my home with your dubious
trickery, but you deceived me most soundly.

Had I a goblet, I would toast to the new Dark Forest in the Basin of
Life. Perhaps those cruel spirits belonged with you after all.

Forever in Her Service,

Prince of Shadows, Valarien Moonbane

Penned by my hand on the 19th of Juliary, in the year 151 CE.
