War

It's time for those in authority in both New Celest and Serenwilde to
recognize that it doesn't matter anymore why the war started.
This war - like all wars have a habit of doing - has become a
self-continuating beast and has moved on beyond the issue(s) that began
it.
Neither side here has an exclusive claim to arrogance or innocence.
Neither side is completely in the wrong or in the right. Neither side is
wholly aggressor or victim.
During the course of this war, both sides have - at one time or another
- had a valid claim to any of those titles.
The people who have and are fighting have as many reasons for fighting
as there are sands in the sea, leaves on the trees, stars in the sky.
There are those who fight because they believe in the precipitating
causes and still do. There are those who believed at first and now don't
and so have ceased fighting. There are those who didn't believe/fight at
first but have been drawn in because of the execution of the war.
There are those who fight in defense of self, friends, family. There are
those who fight because they love to fight and are always happy for an
excuse. There are those who fight because they have been ordered to.
There are those who fight because they don't think they have a choice.
During this war's execution, the pattern of attack, counter-attack,
counter-counter-attack, counter-counter-counter-attack has created many
victims who thought they were on the sidelines. It has also shown just
how eager some are to do bloodshed for a cause they believe in.
I have heard people on both sides claim they fight only in defense, and
yet have seen both sides do aggression for pro-active rather than
re-active reasons.
The time has come to stop asking, "How did this war start?" because it
has started and restarted thousands of times.
It is time to ask, "How will it end?"
