As usual, your argument has little value and toys with semantics instead
of actual content. While Mother Night was suppressed, she had no sway
over Queen Maeve. It was not until awakened that she again did.
Regardless of whether Mother Night was always a "part" of Queen Maeve is
insignificant.
In the same light of semantics, I could feasibly argue that the notion
that an inactivated component with the ability to assimilate into a form
is in itself not "part" of the form until activation. For example, I
could argue that Murphy is not a bloodthirsty warrior (as I am sure he
would like to be considered) but really an inactivated pacifist. Deep
within his core rests the slumbering pacifist who upon activation by
some grand mechanism will awaken and take root. Assuming this were to
happen, would it be more likely that Murphy had found a new path or that
said path was deeply embedded within him?
In other words, what you are considering an internal mechanism is not
necessarily so. It could just as feasibly have been an external
mechanism, in this case, the influence of Lady Viravain and Mother
Night. Given the link between Mother Night and Queen Maeve, I could even
go as far to argue it is both, depending upon perspective.
