The Corrupting Influence of Celestia

Your recent posting only displays the depths of your ignorance of the
Taint, Magnagora and the Demon Lords, and it is unfortunate that one who
once studied with us learned so little. Further, you completely fail to
address the key misconceptions regarding the Taint that I have cleared
up in my previous writing (public 450).

First, you justify your hatred of the Taint (which I remind you is
simply a tool) by explaining your personal disputes with Lord Fain. Let
me make this inescapably clear: Lord Fain is not Tainted. Lord Raezon is
not Tainted. In fact, none of the Elder Gods bear the mark of the Taint
that is Magnagora's tool in modern times. No doubt you will cite Lady
Viravain's possession and subsequent changes as evidence of the Taint,
yet this extremely recent change is not the same evolutionary force that
is evident in Magnagora and her people, but rather a direct result of
Her prolonged contact with Kethuru (which time shall show as either
beneficial or not). While related to the Taint I speak of, they are
separate occurrences. Therefore, any squabbles you may or may not have
with an Elder God are not justification for your stated hatred of the
Taint. As an analogy, the "logic" you use to make this statement equates
to: "I have a personal dispute with Lord Hajamin; therefore, I hate all
Merians." It simply makes no sense to even the most novice students of
logic!

In all this writing, none of the vocal detractors of the Taint have
examined the effects of it with any objectivity. I have written of how
the Taint is a tool that accelerates natural evolutionary change, and I
will elaborate further on the beneficial properties of the Taint. Let us
examine the recently revealed Gorgogs of Bondero Bay. In their "natural"
state (if such a word can be applied to artificial constructs!) we see
that they are highly aggressive yet wholly mindless and unintelligent
creatures. They attack on sight, and lash out at innocents without care
or concern for their actions. However, Archmage Marinus (an Aquamancer,
and therefore arguably biased AGAINST the Taint) has stated that there
is one known as Gognigin who was exposed to the Taint. What did the
Taint do to Gognigin? If you believe those who speak out so vehemently
against the Taint, Gognigin must be a terrible creature that is tenfold
more horrific and brutally aggressive than the common Gorgog. However,
seek him out and the truth shall be revealed: Gognigin is a small,
humble creature of a keen intellect and passive nature. He and I do not
see eye-to-eye, as he distrusts and dislikes all Cities (somewhat
similarly to Communes), yet I can admire that the Taint has been a
powerful tool for bettering him. It has granted him self-awareness and
intelligence, where his brethren are mindless beasts of destruction, and
it has calmed his innately aggressive nature. Through the Taint, he has
gained an amount of influence over his fellow Gorgogs, and those closest
to him are also calmed from the murderous beasts they are by nature.
This is the true face of the Taint, not what Kalodan and Narsrim would
have you believe.

Yet, Narsrim seems intent on calling Lord Gorgulu a "parasitic blight"
(public 451) and "an insane mass of slime" (public 454). However, he
does not address the fact that the Nihilists and Magnagora does not
idealize Lord Gorgulu's unfortunate condition. As I have stated (public
450), Lord Gorgulu is a lesson to us all that to be consumed wholly by
our tool would unmake us, and that we must always exercise care and
restraint when wielding powerful forces that can affect us so
profoundly. Too much of any one thing is unhealthy for us, and the Taint
is no exception to that. Rather than insult Lord Gorgulu, perhaps you
(like the Nihilists) should use him as a lesson in moderation and
restraint, and the need to exercise care when using the great powers of
evolutionary change.

One thing that does trouble me, Narsrim, is your rabidly murderous
nature. The Demon Lords (like so many Tainted beings) as passive by
nature, and in times past have even lent you their blessings. Yet now
you boast of cruelly attacking not only Lord Gorgulu repeatedly and
causing him grievous harm from which you apparently derive some sort of
perverse pleasure, but you have attacked Lord Ashtorath and Lady
Nifilhema as well. I would think that civilized peoples (including those
closest to nature) do not brag about murdering others as if it is
something to be celebrated, and I do not believe I am alone in this
belief.

The fact that you heap the corpses of my friends upon the bloody altars
of Celest does not mitigate your crimes and the fact that you revel in
bloodshed and cold-blooded murder. Your reverence of the Masters of
Celestia only shows how corrupting their influence truly is. Just today,
Dakine of the Serenguard was seen shouting "Blessed be the Light!" I had
always thought that those of the Communes cared little for the
philosophies and ideologies of the Cities, yet you state how you seek to
curry favor with the Masters of Celestia, and Dakine proclaims his
reverence of Celestia instead of the Great Spirits of Nature. All those
who come in contact with Celestia are corrupted wholly by it, and you
have proven that Lord Gorgulu is no exception either. Thankfully, Lord
Gorgulu has been restored to himself, and I hope in time that the others
in the Communes who have been blinded and corrupted find their way back
to their true selves.
