Has Serenwilde already broken their oath of never trusting cities?

Greetings,
Let me start off by saying I've never been a citizen of the commune,
never participated in its internal discussions, and never probed deeply
at the political currents therein. I am, however, a Follower of
Knowledge, most especially History. I have studied the Histories every
way possible, and I know them very very well. With that in mind, here
are a few segments of an anonymous letter I received, one that possesses
terribly dire implications.
Quotation Begins:
Even at this early stage of development, for everyone alike including
cities and commune, many people have already sought to create
allegiances. Most recently, I stumbled accross a meeting between
Celestines and Serenwilders discussing matters. This meeting took place
on the Pool of Stars, and obviously the Celestines were trying to lure
the commune to their side. Claiming that the Taint and Magngagora are
"evil", that there will be no stop to your hunger for dominance,
encouraging forestals to ally against you and make you withdraw your
advances.
Of course, in my stand point, all civilization is evil. All civilization
should be crushed if it endangers nature. Celestines' old avaricious
drive for celestial power unleashed the taint that mutated the lands,
Magnagora included. Our only hope is, that there is enough sense within
your people not to fool around with the might of the Souless Ones
because you too wold be erradicated. To conclude about alliances
debates, most commune members are unwilling to take sides on such
affairs, though there are many individuals that are encouragin an
allegiance WITH Celest. So, may your actions be wise towards Serenwilde,
or you will soon earn the disfavour of the multitude and rather than
oathing to protect nature... I am sure nature would rally to fight you.
Quotation Ends
I recall quite vividly that Serenwilde, shortly after the unleashing of
the taint and the withdrawal into the commune, a statement made by the
High Priestess of the Moon. "Serenwilde will not ally with Celest. We
will never trust Celest again." This was a definitive position set forth
by your greatest leader, at that time, and yet you no longer stand by it
faithfully? Perhaps someone might enlighten me as to why.
Magnagora has been branded "Evil" by the Celestians, a fact that so
aptly embodies the essence of hypocrisy. Magnagora's aggressions, beyond
our work in the Villages to persuade them of the greater ways of the
world, have always been retaliatory. The "war", as it was, began when
New Celest shattered a treaty regarding nonaggression towards already
influenced villages. These "Good", "Light", "Righteous" warriors
slaughtered women and children, their cries hauntingly echoing across
the city channel. You brand us "Evil" when the first blow was struck by
yourselves? Please. The Taint cares not for Good, nor Evil. The Taint
merely brings Change.
To Serenwilde,
I ask that as a commune you reconsider these decisions. I have done my
best to maintain a policy of peaceful coexistence between our respective
homes, for I know the destruction that war brings. New Celest's butchery
and destruction, all in the name of the "Light", will shift targets and
begin their assault on your commune once they feel they have "beaten"
Magnagora. New Celest is filled with greedy, murdering power-mongers,
who want nothing more than to rebuild the glory of their Empire, and
Empire that tore itself due to horrid leadership. They are the
embodiment of everything that the High Priestess of the Moon swore to
distrust so many years ago.
I've been told that the standards for group goals and similar things are
far different in the commune than other, more formal organisations.
That's fine, if certain people wish to go against the grain of your
civilisation and try and rebuild the Empire that forced you into the
safety of your trees, so be it. But I am hoping that with these
revelations, there will be a resurgence of loyalty to the old ideals,
and the predominating political belief will be that of noninvolvement.
I do not ask Serenwilde to trust myself or any of my fellow citizens.
Indeed, I don't even hold a political position in the city at this time.
Distrust Magnagora all you wish, but the peace must be maintained. We
seek to educate those who wish to know of the Taint, but we do not wish
to start wars that need not be fought. We do not wish to destroy the
forests and burn down the trees, nor soil the water and muck up the air.
The Taint is Change embodied, no more, no less.
So again, I ask the majority of you. Really look back at the records, at
the history. Think on the beliefs of your civilisation. Do you want to
break with tradition and the very foundation upon which your commune was
formed? That is something you must all decide for yourselves, but I hope
you choose correctly. The war between aggressive, destructive Celest and
Magnagora does not involve you, and joining to fight the Taint will only
result in damage to your beautiful homes.
F'ai, Glomdoring!
