Explorers of the Basin, I write this to inform you of a new sort of
venom which has recently been discovered. Since it does not yet bear an
official name, I shall refer to it from this point simply as
'celestenemy'. Do not take this venom lightly - it is the most
contagious of any I have yet seen. Whereas most poisonous substances
require a blade of some sort to reach your bloodstream, celestenemy
seems to possess the unique ability to travel through your skin itself.
It is carried by many creatures, who seem themselves immune but happily
spread the condition around as they can.

Some of you may wonder how a Serenwilder such as myself would know of
such things. Yes, for those of you who guessed, it is true - e'en I have
been infected. My condition was caused when I came into contact with a
beast known as The Talkan. I did touch this Talkan only twice with my
bare hands - patting him on the back. Before I even knew what had
happened, I was infested with celestenemy, even with such minimal
exposure. The condition did result in my death, among other afflictions.

There is not yet any known cure for celestenemy. It is suggested that
the condition might be forced into remission if you simply find the
creature which infected you and poor buckets of gold down its throat.
However, this is not guaranteed to lead to a permanent cure; remission
is unfortunately common.

Beware, good people of the basin, should you encounter The Talkan or
others of his kind! Simply to touch him may very well leave you a victim
of celestenemy. Keep on your guard at all times; do not underestimate
the threat of the terrifying creatures which bear this venom. I have
heard they might even spread it through the air or possibly even the
aetherwaves, should you anger them.

If you have any further questions, do feel free to contact me. I am
considering forming a group to discuss and research this issue further,
as well as to support others who have fallen victim to celestenemy.

Kalas Derian
