My take on things.

Everyone

Alright, normally I wouldn't be bugging the whole basin with this mess,
I hate writing news articles at all really, but Xanon's view is one of
hatred for Forren. He honesty doesn't give a rat's rear about Celest. He
wanted unenemied, Forren said no, Xanon killed some baby adventurer who
was empowering an angel on Celestia as revenge for his rebuking.

Let me give a little background on myself, so the rest of this post
makes sense...

I'm a straight out, god's forgive my language "ASS" at times. I have a
horrid anger problem and am quick to curse and spit venom in the form of
words. I have been this way for a long time. It's cost me much. I've
been a minister, I've been a security officer in guilds and always lost
it cause of my attitude, I don't condone my actions at all, I know I
bring a lot of crap on myself. But I also do try and act somewhat
reasonable and keep my tact the same all the time. I'm not the guy who
will be hugging bunnies and squeezing novice cheeks then later rampaging
anyone of the opposite city or belief just cause they are a magnagorian
or what have you. I try to have reasons for my methods. I slip in these
things sometimes and I normally pay very badly when I do.

Anyone who's been running around the basin in the last year has probably
seen me running around, with the title I still bear of Homeless Monk.
The reason I was homeless of my home I held for 90 some years was
because of a disagreement with Lady Terentia the Patron of Celest. See
I'm strong will and have never been one to drop to his knees cause a god
pops into being in my presence. I said and did some stuff I shouldn't
have and was punished, Maggotted, Cursed with orcs who called me all
sortsa names and made me pretty much worthless at anything. I was
flicked into Astral Realms and left to die as a squishy soft maggot...

And I deserved every one. But after I left my city, I got a lot of
people asking me a question I never considered. Which city or commune
are you going to move to next. I was dumbfounded because Celest is my
home, for all the things I don't agree with and all the things about how
some of it is run I hate. It is my home. So I sought out Lady Terentia,
appologized in my way, which is bumbling at best, and she told me to
seek out the aid of the Star Council to try and return home. I did this.
I was told I had to stay out until Dvarsh, this month, and would have
some restrictions on rank placed on me. I had no problems with this. I'm
normally out bashing, helping a little person with something, or just
sitting around doing nothing, but I tend to stay active, I'm not a
fixture at the pool by anymeans. I don't wake up in the basin every
month to have day long conversations or comment on how pretty your
little black rose is. I come here to advance, to get better and to
further myself and causes I believe in.

Well so I come back to town earlier this month, and am a peasent which
is fine with me. I then get told I can have no power for three years.
Now look, as I already admitted, I did some stupid stuff. I will
probably do some more stupid stuff in my life. But I waited out their
year punishment, and then get punished with restrictions that I never
violated to my knowledge. This is where I see the flaws in Celest and in
many other places. How many times do you hear about someone out running
around who Jumps an enemy for whatever reason, that enemy puts up a
fight and the attacker turns into the prey and flees like a ghost. Well
if that person follows and kills you for you attacking them, that's your
own fault. But people get enemied for that? People get enemied for
hunting in areas that we as a city, don't allow our citizens to hunt. So
from what you're telling me, is that cause Celest doesn't want to kill a
certain race or type of creature, the whole basin should be held to our
beliefs? There are differences between us all, we should not be so
blinded by "There is black and there is white, there is no gray" cause
guess what folks there is grey. There is tons of grey in everything we
do.

Some people view success of a commune or a city as how many villages
they have, how many people they have who are good at killing other
people, how many commodities they have in their shops. Whatever. Without
getting into too much preaching it is my feeling that Celest has focused
on three supernals and neglected the fourth for wayyyy too long.
Raziela, she talks of compassion and love for things. I have yet to see
any mercy or love or anything spread by any of Celest. I see plenty of
killing on both sides of the table, but I don't see much use of the
mouth but to badmouth this person or that. I have yet to see a
compassionate bone in our city business.

It is my thoughts that many things should change about Celest, number
one it's enemying proceedure should be enforced more, it's unenemy
process should be more then simply, "Give me oodles of gold and wait 2
years, then we'll unenemy you." Wealth and time don't change, actions
and trust and chances are what prove if you're gonna be loyal to the
words and traits of the city and respect it's bounds. I can go and give
you 100,000 gold, and your city gets a little richer, but all I'm doing
is buying you. I'm not convincing you that I will change or have
changed. There needs to be more reliance and tasks and performance then
on money and greed. Sort of along those lines, if anyone checked the
politics of Celest, we are Religious and Despotic, I don't think this
should city should be Despotic, that is basically us trying to crank as
many commodities and goods and power out of the cities we have. These
cities have denizens and people who live in them too, and it is
unfortunate that they have no word in how things are handled, cause
there isn't one city/commune in the basin that is Benevolent, and I
think we should be. We should not be so hungry for power, so hungry for
money and gems.

All of our laws in Celest are basically guidelines for how things -can-
be handled, but most of the people in power use them as etched stone.
They see that a Teir I offence gives a max of this and BAM that's what
you get. I think that most of our citizens are good people, and try to
make things run good and do the best by others. But I also thing that so
many grew up under certain conditions and statuses of the city that they
are loath to think outside of them. I think more personal control should
be extended from the leaders and less relegated to just reading a scroll
and doing what it says with no thoughts of the extenuating circumstances
on the instance.

Look, I know we are all mortal and we screw up from time to time, we can
be greedy, we can be power hungry and we can hold grudges, trust me I've
held some great ones, but just looking at this whole city from the
outside, working my way BACK in I started to see the flaws that it has.
Talking to people who have been enemied for defending themselves against
people who I personally think are out trying to pick fights and get mad
cause they lost and have to go through months or years of talks and
votes and considerations just because one person with a twitchy enemy
finger, made the wrong choice is silly.

Our main goals should be recruitment to our causes and retention of our
people. Yet we lose citizens all the time to Communes and the other city
cause people come off as caught on their rank and titles. Without these
novices that are coming up and learning and becoming our future
warriors, politicians and tradesmen, we are just gonna be a bunch of old
fellows swing sticks and magic at each other. New blood is the key. We
have to get them to stay, to get involved in more then just killing each
other and gaining ranks and positions so they can enemy and kick people
out at a whim. We are too quick to destroy then we are to conserve.
These are the faults I see and this is the reason I contest.

I'm no where near perfect. No-where-near. But I will at least try and
make things better for everyone else at least to follow. We sit fighting
the same battles for decades and decades, just get a few more different
ways to fight those battles, cause nobody focuses on anything else but
killing and hatred, this needs to change.
