The Rise and Fall of the False Light, Part I

It began when the Holy Supernals of Celestia gathered to investigate the
mysterious disappearance of archangels. They determined that the angelic
beings must have left of their own free will, yet once gone either
refused or were unable to communicate with Celestia. Then Celestines
began having strange dreams, some of which hinted of a coming of a being
of light and some of which appeared to be warnings. When a being of
light did appear over the Pool of Stars speaking of a new age of the
Light, the citizens of New Celest greeted this event with as much
skepticism as hope.

Later, matters took on a more dire note when the being of light along
with the missing archangels appeared over the Village of Stewartsville.
There, all the humans in Stewartsville the were lifted up into the air
and disappeared in a blaze of light, leaving behind just one small baby
swaddled in his crib. Throughout the following month, the being of light
and the missing archangels would appear over village after village,
taking away their entire populations. During this time, Glomdoring,
Serenwilde and Magnagora began hearing reports of archangels being sited
scouting within their borders and the planes surrounding their
respective nexuses.

A small Spire of Light appeared in the ethereal realm near the Master
Ravenwood Tree of Glomdoring. Surrounding the Spire of Light were
several of the missing archangels along with soldiers enshrouded in
light. The archangels would drain part of their essence into the Spire
of Light which would in turn drain power out of the Master Ravenwood
Tree. Glomdoring called in the Celestines who were unable to stop the
entranced archangels. Eventually, they battled and repulsed the
archangels who were defended by the mysterious glowing soldiers. As the
soldiers fell, it was revealed that they were the missing villagers.

Chaos ensued as another Spire of Light appeared in the ethereal realm,
this time attacking the Moonhart Mother Tree, and another appeared in
the elemental plane of earth attacking the Megalith of Doom. Though the
archangels and soldiers were defeated, more would eventually show up,
draining the nexuses of power. The Holy Supernals and Celestines were in
a state of panic, but were eventually able to influence a few of the
archangels to return back to Celestia.

Sightings of the being of light over the Spires of Light and further
prophetic dreams enabled Prince Forren of New Celest to theorize that
this being responsible for the Spires and abduction was High Priestess
Shellma Natharian who had died centuries ago. This unlikely theory was
proven correct when her empty tomb was found by Adee Mes'ard-Freewind.
Questions remained on how she returned from the dead, what gave her the
power to not only call the archangels but entrance them, and what she
was doing draining the nexuses of Glomdoring, Serenwilde and Magnagora.

As the Spires of Light were growing larger and larger, draining power
faster and faster from the nexuses, a new Spire of Light was raised,
this time in the center of Balach Swamp. Larger and more powerful than
the other spires, it was able to simultaneously drain power directly
from the Master Ravenwood, Mother Moonhart and Megalith of Doom. The
being of light, now uncovered as Shellma Natharian, promised the rise of
a new age of light and reemergence of the Holy Celestine Empire led by a
Goddess Empress.
