The Coming of Elcyrion

Out of the clear blue sky above the northern mountains, a brilliant bolt
of lightning slammed into the peak of Mount Seirode, sending a
resounding crash echoing through the Basin and leaving the peak glowing
with a clear white light. Upon reaching the peak, the first mortals
there discovered a small sapling amid the debris of ancient ruins,
consisting entirely out of crystal, but still very much alive.

In the mean time, little birds known as Aerials had been showing up at
various places throughout the basin. The beautiful little birds were
quickly discovered to have a liking for juniper seeds, following those
that were kind enough to give seeds to them. When eventually, one of
these birds was led to the crystal tree atop Mount Seirode, it quickly
took flight and settled among its branches, only to be absorbed into the
crystal body of the tree. Many more birds were quickly gathered and
brought to the tree, which grew to gargantuan proportions, towering from
the top of the mountain, equalling both the Moonhart and the Ravenwood
in sheer size.

Wildly speculating about the nature of the tree, the many people
gathered suffered a nasty surprise when the peak of Mount Seirode
suddenly disappeared in a brilliant flash of light. As the gathered
slowly regained their senses, the air above the mountain began to churn
and shimmer and high above appeared the form of a strange figure that
soon descended to the ground. The figure was revealed to be an Elder god
by the name of Elcyrion, who had disappeared from Lusternia in the early
beginning of the Elder wars.

Having left Lusternia before the coming of the Mortal races, Elcyrion
was quite amazed by the curious creatures that now stood before Him,
questioning their existence once He had mastered common speech. When
someone explained the splintering of Elder Gods to Him, Elcyrion
despaired, exclaiming He had failed His brother and that all had been
for nothing.

Through her close connection with Lacostian, Ialie recognized Elcyrion's
title; the Erudite, as having been spoken by her patron. Upon mentioning
that Lacostian was alive however, Elcyrion became angry, saying He would
not be held a fool and that He would have been able to feel His brother
were He still alive. The argument continued, but soon Lacostian was
called in and He appeared, looking angry, demanding to know who had the
nerve to impersonate His lost brother. Since Lacostian had not changed
as much as Elcyrion since the beginning of the Elder wars, it took
Elcyrion little time to recognise His brother and act appropriately.
Lacostian however, still believed His brother to have perished in the
Elder Wars and demanded Elcyrion prove Himself.

In response to this accusation, Elcyrion started recounting the moment
of His demise to Lacostian. The two brothers had been preparing to face
a nameless soulless that descended upon Them before They were ready to
face Her. The brothers had attempted to lure Her into the range of one
of Lacostian's great spells and attempt to imprison her in this manner.
However, She arrived before the spell was done, and Elcyrion was forced
to face Her in an attempt to buy His brother more time, He tried to
divert Her attention from His brother, but soon found that the Soulless
was much faster and stronger then Him, and that none of His usual means
had any effect on Her whatsoever and He knew it was merely a matter of
time before both He and His brother would be devoured. In a last
desperate attempt to hold Her back however, Elcyrion directly pitted His
will against the hunger of the Soulless, attempting to force Her back
from His brother.

The battle of wills was enormous, but as Elcyrion's will slowly weakened
under the onslaught of Her hunger, the ferocity of Her attack increased
as She sensed Elcyrion could not hold on much longer. Knowing He was
about to perish, Elcyrion let go of his will and scattered His essence
across the winds, effectively disappearing before the Soulless gaping
maw.

Lacostian on the other hand did not realise Elcyrion had escaped and was
forced to watch His brother be devoured before His eyes. At this point a
great rage took hold of Lacostian, fuelling his partially finished spell
into a maelstrom of destruction which He released upon the Soulless,
effectively blasting Her essence out of configuration and leaving it to
be devoured by the other Soulless at a later time. Lacostian, believing
He had failed His brother, went into deep meditation on the shard of
reality that contained the Akashic records, not emerging for ages to
come, until after the coming of Estarra.

Now finally recognising His brother, Lacostian whisked Elcyrion away to
inform Him of what had happened during the time in which He had been
gone, leaving the many mortals standing around in surprise at the sudden
disappearance of the two gods. Almost a day later, Avechna's peak
started rumbling and shaking and lightning crashed into the top as
Elcyrion constructed His fulcrux among those of His fellow Elder gods,
completing His return to the Basin of Life.

Penned by my hand on the 22nd of Estar, in the year 132 CE.
