Shrieks echoed across the northern Serenwilde in the middle of Estar as
the naiad cried for help. Beset by numerous albino eels like those found
in the Undervault, she fled to the shores of the lake. Members of the
Serenwilde rushed to her aide, although lives were lost in the fray. Led
by Lehki, a group purged the lake and rivers of the invading beasts and
offered comfort to the frazzled naiad.
Encouraged by the familiar faces, the naiad returned to the centre of
her lake, where she dove into the waters to try to locate the source of
the invasion. Although an explanation was not to be found, an intriguing
tunnel opened that led under the guild estate of the Shofangi. A cavern
opened, and within the wondering group found the walls covered with
carvings of Bull, all surrounding a shattered altar.
Quickly, those gathered brought the fae architect, who was fascinated by
the altar. He sadly admitted that he couldn't possibly rebuild it...at
least not without the original plans to go by! Eventually, Gabriella
Talnara asked the right question, and the group travelled to Faethorn to
speak to Queen Maeve.
The Queen's consort Laeroc admitted to having possession of the plans,
but demanded that the group bring one of the rare bluebell fae from the
gardens in Faethorn for the amusement of his beloved Queen. With much
help, Sarrasri Talnara summoned the little fae and brought her to the
throneroom. The plans were passed over and quickly returned to the
little fae architect.
In great excitement, the architect requested that his tools be found and
commodities for the rebuilding effort be brought -- all while indulging
in a mouthful of honeycomb. Given these things, he ushered the group out
of the cave and blocked the door, determined to devote himself to his
work in peace.
Over one month later, it was a very proud architect who invited
Serenwilde to see the rebuilt altar of Bull. He confusedly described how
three parts of the altar could not be replaced with new parts -- the eye
of the Bull figure, a broken piece of its horn, and a tile. But with
great fanfare, he inserted the last new piece of the altar.
A great cry resounded across the Serenwilde as a spirit named Nimailt
Moonblade called for Old Man Bull. Excited, the group attempted to find
a path to the south, but the trees were ancient and thick. Chuchip
himself spoke out against harming them, though he hinted that someone in
the Serenwilde could magically move the trees aside without harming
them.
Isotta of the White Hands turned out to have the power to do what was
required, but she was reluctant to leave her pool to help. First she
demanded honey cakes, then flowers, music, and the company of Arco. When
the leader of Serenwilde, Sadie, finally promised that the gathered
wiccans and druids would provide a constant rain so that the naiad would
be comfortable on the journey, Isotta agreed to travel. As the rain
poured down and Raeri Stormcrow sang and enchanting ballad, Isotta
frolicked happily to the southern Serenwilde and coaxed the trees to
move.
The new area that opened to the members of Serenwilde was filled with
cairns, where some of the most distinguished people of the past were
entombed. The only spirit, however, was Nimailt. The last of a number of
people devoted to Old Man Bull, she remained behind while the rest
ventured outside of the Serenwilde following visions given to them by
Bull. She described her wish to contact the great spirit, but was
reluctant to begin while the yew trees planted at each cairn were sick
and the accompanying dryads fallen into a deep, unwaking sleep.
The group healed the yew trees and woke the dryads one by one, listening
to their stories with wonder. One dryad spoke merrily of Aramir
Strongleaf, who sang and played the lyre at the wedding of Glinshari and
Ellindel ages ago. Another timidly recounted the tale of Rhoswen
Wildbriar, a contemporary of Farella. On the stories went, until the
group returned to Nimailt and with her guidance completed a ritual to
contact Old Man Bull.
Although many new things were discovered amidst the ancient cairns of
the Serenwilde, still more questions arose. Where did Nimailt's people
go and did they reach their destination?
