The Secret of the Goldfeathers

The tranquility of the Grey Moors was broken in the early part of the
year 223 as an explosion rocked the area violently. Its source turned
out to be the caravan of Kyree Goldfeather, a traveller who spent his
days wandering the Basin and collecting rare artifacts. He kept some odd
concoctions within his caravan, somehow they came into contact with each
other leading to a violent reaction which lead to the destruction of his
prized possession and the loss of the rare items he had spent years
collecting.

Oddly enough his caravan had also contained many stoats of which Kyree
had been breeding and using to test his concoctions on. These surged
into the Grey Moors, causing a major infestation which was only quelled
by the entrance of dingoes and foxes into the area having been attracted
by the increased levels of prey for them to hunt. Kyree eventually
retreated to his cousin's house in the moors, in utter despair about the
fate of his caravan. However it seemed there were more pressing matters
at hand when Kyree and his cousin Sheena were seen whispering to each
other, ensuring no one else could hear.

For days the Grey Moors fell silent once again, until the cries of the
farmer Kipp could be heard, muttering about some foul creatures
disturbing his precious farmland. These creatures later turned out to be
wolverines, who arrived in the moors along with the bears to prey upon
the foxes and dingoes who had recently begun to inhabit the area. Kyree
took a keen interest in these new creatures, taking it upon himself to
try and find out more about them and their feeding habits, although
while aiding the adventurers, Kyree was plucked from the ground by a
creature sporting the body of a lion, the tail of a scorpion and large
bat-like wings. This creature was later discovered to be a manticore,
from which the poison now known as pyrotoxin can be extracted.

Life within the moors returned to relative normality as the inhabitants
began to adjust to these new additions to the place, however an awkward
atmosphere remained at the Goldfeather house, with Kyree and Sheena
exchanging worried looks at every opportunity. The reason for this
atmosphere became apparent in the late hours when an undead trill
managed to slip out of imprisonment and found his way to Glomdoring,
desperately seeking protection from his captors. Eventually the trill
revealed himself as Hieli Goldfeather, the former Vice Chair of the
Hallifax Board of Governors. During an expedition to investigate the
Taint he found himself overcome and ravaged by its powers, when
discovered by those of his family they eventually decided that he should
be kept out of sight as a leper would reflect badly upon the rest of the
family, and ever since he has been a prisoner, kept subdued by some foul
poison, and eventually ending up at Sheena's house in the Grey Moors.

Hieli's location was eventually discovered by Sheena, who swiftly
knocked him out and returned him to his makeshift prison in her home.
Members of the Glomdoring worked tirelessly to release Hieli from his
induced state of weakness, gathering lost artifacts which returned his
memories of the long lost Hallifax and granting him the strength to
overpower his captors and flee into the moors. Before his departure
however, Hieli gave his newly charged wand, and a blackened parchment
written in Divine script to the gathered party.

The meanings of the writing upon this parchment have yet to be
determined
