The Resurrection of Soulforge - Part I

Silence settled over the Basin as the Dread Lord of Contagion's laughter
and threats faded in the air, leaving the Basin worried and silent. Many
days had come to pass since then, and the quiet became unsettling. It
was only a matter of months, however, before the Dread Lord's threats
began to manifest. Elder Gods and Goddesses began appearing before their
followers, obviously ill. Others hid, refusing to take form, attempting
to hide their weakness.

Not but a few months after the theft of the cloier's organ by the Dread
Lord of Contagion did the first hints of trouble begin to appear among
mortal kind. It began with the kephera Warder Iseti, appearing at the
border of the Southern Serenwilde Forest, pleading for help. Many Serens
pleaded to give him aide, though he refused. He insisted their healing
talents be turned towards a woman he called only, "Princess Khekameti".
Believing there to be some relation to the Hive of Queen Khementen, all
but one rushed to the Undervault. One Moondancer, by the name of Aia,
waited instead, listening to the weakened Warder's pleas. At his
request, she lead him to the city of New Celest, where there too he
sought aid for his Princess. Yet as the New Celestians listened, the
young warder began to burn under the very light of the rising sun and,
within moments, fled.

It was there in the Oleanvir Valley that he was found and then, at the
word of the Heir of Ellindel, Sarrasri, was set to rest with the injured
Michel Aldric in his home, along the Estengare River. After a days rest,
while many continued to search for the missing Princess Khekameti,
Warder Iseti lead those of Serenwilde and New Celest to a small cave in
the Oleanvir, where indeed Princess Khekameti and several male
companions rested, nursing their disease-infested wounds.

Within days the fleeing kephera were joined on the Surface of the Basin
of Life by a group of illithoid, having emerged from the Undervault
under similar conditions. Within the Glomdoring the High Priest
Enoth-Golosha was received well, until an argument broke out. With Madam
Yoraghu in a rage and his pride injured, the illithoid male set off for
Magnagora at dusk, seeking out the only remaining illithoid sent to the
surface by the Avatar of the Dark Empress.

With anger evident in her eyes, Madam Yith agreed to help the sickly
illithoid high priest. Magnagora and Glomdoring began bringing
rockeaters to them, while the illithoid rested deep beneath Magnagora.
Many days would pass as those who had allied themselves with the shards
of Illith brought them rockeaters, which were then quickly sent away to
build a camp of Enoth-Golosha's design.

As the kephera built a protective psionic web and the illithoid began
using methods of breeding to create superior, sun-dwelling kin, they
slowly began to combat what had afflicted them. Yet still trouble boiled
unseen, as they revealed they had been driven to the surface world by
powerful and malicious psychic energies that had overwhelmed them in the
Undervault.
