Project Ideas

I have a few basic ideas about the project, nothing too complicated.
Forgive me if this post is worded strangely or is an odd format, I have
not used the news system in a long time. I'll start with construction
concerns.

I have walked the city looking for viable places to put this new
college, and have found a few. Here are my ideas:

* Corona Boulevard, near Midnight's Gate.

* Courtyard of the Necropolis, southwest of the Megalith.

* We could expand the study west of the Megalith to make a path toward
the harbor; there are only relatively small buildings in that area. They
could be destroyed to make room for the school.

* Cul-de-sac off Fate's Square, nothing has been here for a long while.
It might be time we started using this area.

As for the actual construction of the college and its style, I propose a
tower. Our city is littered with high towers; it would only be fitting
that this new college be another massive monument to Magnagora's will.
There has been talk that the college IS going to be underground. This I
do not know for sure, but I don't think we should completely rule
anything out. The idea of an underground tower was brought up - this
sounds somewhat interesting. Maybe we could excavate a huge underground
area big enough to accommodate this. In this area we could furnish
training grounds, barracks, novice shops, and at its center, a tower,
holding the college together. The tower would have various classrooms
and labs inside of it, along with the other necessities a scholastic
institution needs.

Although it is a superficial matter, it seems the debate over what we
should name the college is the most heated. The general consensus seems
unpleased with current name. When choosing a name, we must weigh its
attributes. For one, it can't be too ambiguous, for two, it can't be too
specific. There needs to be a balance between the two. Considering
originality is also crucial. "The Midnight Lyceum" was my idea. Some
have liked it, some have not. I think when the construction is nearing
an end and we are working out the leftover kinks, we should gather ideas
for names and put it to a city-wide vote.

The last thing I wanted to bring up were the proposed "tasks" we have
initiates do. I have a few ideas on the subject.

* If a student is made to listen to a few long lectures, he should be
forced to pay attention. After a lecture, a teacher will ask the
students a few questions about what he/she discussed. For example: Let's
say a teacher named Mr. Floydis Pinkis is lecturing on what aetherspace
is. Young Jimmy thought he could ignore what stuffy old Pinkis was
saying. With the crack of a whip he screams, "Jimmy! You can fly through
aetherspace in a ship, yes or no?!" Poor Jimmy says "No" Mr. Pinkis then
proceeds to give him a good lashing once or twice and says, "Fine!
You'll listen to the whole lecture over again!"

* Exploration tasks could fun. Jimmy has progressed a further in his
training at the college, and is ready for something a little dangerous.
After hearing a lecture on say, masters of the Taint, he is asked seek
out one. Perhaps Emperor Ladantine? Ladantine would reward young Jimmy
for finding him, give him some encouragement, and then send him on his
way back to the academy.

* We have "bonus" group activities that administrators can initiate if
enough novices are around. Perhaps a city-wide scavenger hunt in which
the prize is a special un-decayable medal the college head gives out. Or
maybe a powerful monster will suddenly appear in the school grounds, and
it is up to the initiates to take it down (they would of course be given
hints that they need to band together to defeat it).

So! Those are some of my ideas for the upcoming academy, college, or
whatever we decide to call it. Hopefully this has been helpful.
