Another round..

Ah, Lord Charune. I was expecting a reply from You in such a tone. I am
honored You took the time to make a direct response to my post.
Stone roads and buildings do not result in the destruction of everything
around it anymore than planting a garden or a grove of trees does.
Resources are moved and manipulated. Stone comes from mountains,
shorelines, and various other sources to build the roads and structures.
Planting a tree is no different than moving a block of marble from one
point to another. Neither occurred naturally, both done by the hands of
mortals.
The materials used are natural in origin, but their manipulation is not.
A city, too, takes no more than it needs to expand.
As for whether or not stone buildings and wooden treetop dwellings are
natural or unnatural.. They are the same. Wooden bridges and dwellings
in the treetops are made from materials gathered from nature. They were
not there originally and have an impact on the habitat within the
treetops. Similarly, stone buildings in cities were not created by
nature, but do use materials gathered from nature.
The construction of both types of dwellings are unnatural at the core. A
stone building in a field is destroying no more than a wooden hut in the
trees.
If a commune realizes that one can survive on what nature offers, then I
have to ask this: why do communes often seek the aid of cities and
villages for particular goods such as enchantments, crops, commodities,
and merchant wares? It would seem to me that the communes have come to
rely on forms that are not in harmony with nature.
As for undeath and rebirth.. The only difference is that one possesses a
soul and the other does not. Then again, there is the fine boundary of
what undeath really is. Some undead creatures have been known to still
possess sentience and awareness. Wouldn't rebirth be another perversion
of the natural cycle- to keep something living when it should be dead?
I do not believe animals reincarnated on their own before mortals
appeared and interfered with the natural process. And that there is how
rebirth and undeath are similar- that neither occurs naturally on their
own.. at least in the animal world.
Well, I suppose I have little to worry since I do not solely use my
tools of nature to aid a city. I am more than willing to aid the
Glomdoring forest. I would also be willing to aid the Serenwilde forest,
not the commune, as I always have been.. if the commune hadn't banned me
from the forest and been so bloodthirsty.
And if I did take the cities with me, nature would no longer have to
defend its own against the Taint. That is a given, since Magnagora is a
city. I would prefer nature face that which its so-called protectors
have befriended so that the lesson may be learned. I would also like to
point out that nature has not always been successful in defending
itself.. Gloriana is an example of that.
I suppose Serenwilde could adapt to survive, becoming another twisted
commune.. but would its caretakers allow it should the situation arise?
It had a hard enough time defending against Celest.
Again, thank You for Your response, Lord Charune. It was very
interesting.
