A Treatise of the Hunters: The Cities

The following is an approved treatise by the Huntsman, Lord Charune.
Reflecting His Order's stance on the disposition and status of the
Hunter's modern day relations and interpretation of the Cities. With
loyalty, I scribe these words:

'For as long as the fates and time have dictated, Nature has stood as
the
pinnacle of life amidst not only the Basin of Life, but all over the
parts of our world. For generations, Hunters arose from the foliage and
began the ideological trials of which we still practice today. From our
ancestors we have inherited an innate value of the sacred art of that
which is the Hunt, along with a respect and love for the Huntsman who
guides our hands and feet as we practice His arts. However, not all has
always been prosperous for Nature or the Hunters.

Nature had always been untouched and unspoiled by the hands of humanity;
humanity instead residing within its surroundings, and not using nor
harbouring them for profit or malcontent. Yet, the minds of men grew
with both avarice and passion, and began to loathe that which had given
them shelter for so many years. Thus, those unsatisfied people went and
created the first of the abominations we know as the cities. Structures
of stone and pavement built over the very natural lands, the bounty of
Nature used to create the foundations of the cities that we Hunters have
continued to loathe over the course of history. As the Cities grew
larger, so did the greed of the city-dwellers, their founders continuing
to expand and consume into the forests and woodlands within the Basin
and beyond. The Hunters heard the cries of the woods; we saw the sorrow
of the creatures that had lost their homes to the fires of industry and
rapacity. However, it would be Brother Hart and Brother Raven who would
also hear of their sorrow, and within Their efforts... The forests were
able
to halt the encroaching expansion of the cities, thus saving the
remaining forests of the world.

To this day, despite the infection of the world by Wyrd and Taint alike,
we Hunters remain steadfast in our defense of Nature and the forests.
While many stances and dispositions of the cities have changed remotely,
we all share a common dislike of them. Neither marriage, friendship, nor
a mutual understanding can ever repair the scars that the cities have
placed upon Nature, nor does the Hunter ever forget of those wounds upon
the land inflicted by the ancestors of the cities. The Hunter seeks and
anticipates the day that the cities shall crumble and fall, and a
majority of the Hunters and the Huntsman Himself believe that this day
is inevitable. For, as the Hunters say, Nature was borne before the
cities, and it shall continue to thrive after the cities.'

With Loyalty to the Hunt,
