Public News Post #781

Thank you

Written by: Raja Exarius of the Shanthine Pride
Date: Wednesday, July 19th, 2006
Addressed to: Everyone

I recently received this lovely note. Judging by the messenger, it would
seem to have come from someone in Glomdoring, but he accidentally forgot
to sign his name to it, so I'm left with no way to thank him save here.

"Dear 'Raja' Exarius," my admirer begins, sweetly emphasizing my pride
title, "I speak for myself, and many others when I say the following: We
do not care about your view of Serenwilde politics. People are leaving
the forest? Wonderful. Why does that matter to me? I've never stepped
foot in Serenwilde, and I don't plan to for a very long time. Now, would
you mind keeping your blithering off of the public boards?"

Forgive me a moment. Getting misty eyed. This just brings back such
memories of the days Gwylifar tried to bully me by claiming everyone in
the Shanthine Pride thought I was a tyrant. Good times. Good times.

Well, dear admirer, this obviously matters to you enough to spend 100
gold to keep your own attempts at intimidation anonymous, but why is for
you to say, not me.

Wish I could be more help considering the trouble you went to. Heck,
when I find someone blithering on this board, I just move right on to
the next post without batting an eye. Very rude of me, I know, but there
are have been so many blithers over the years, it's hard to respond to
them all personally.

See, though, here's the thing. For nearly fifty years I've quietly lived
my life and (with a few notable exceptions) ignored politics, stood my
ground against anyone who'd try to bully me, and stepped in to help a
lot of people who didn't know how to handle bullies. But I never cared
about my public image.

Bullies from all over the basin have been spreading venomous lies about
me for decades, and I let them, because I've always believed the truth
will out. Well, that time is done. No more free rides, because I _have_
no guilty secrets.

That makes open public discourse my friend, even if it would seem to be
your enemy.

Penned by my hand on the 22nd of Dvarsh, in the year 152 CE.
