City of the Taint,
I am curious as to your current attitude towards the Elfen peoples of
the Great Communes. While I had erroneously assumed that you had some
distaste towards the races of the Forests, I noted with surprise that
one of your most senior citizens has chosen the form of a Faeling - an
Elfen child. Not only an Elfen child, mind you, but the product of a
miraculous union between Elfen and Nature Spirit... a truly blessed
being that is even more in tune with the vast Forests than the mortal
which gifted them with life.
Now, I am told that there was once disapproval voiced of the
'pure-blooded' Elfen joining your city... yet I cannot for the life of
me understand what possible reason you would have for hating my father's
lineage, yet take no issue with my own - even though they are one and
the same. Perhaps you can explain for me.
Is it a reverence for the Lesser Spirits of Nature which guides your
compassion and forgiveness for their offspring? Or is it simply that you
follow blindly what you have been told for centuries without once
questioning the reason behind it, or lack thereof?
From the deep forest,
Elryn Greythane.
