Reply to a Modest Answer

Sir,

My proposal is not so smallminded to have it be equated to such local
phenomena as taint. While I was unhappily aware that someone would no
doubt fail to see beyond their own selfish wants I was still hoping that
before they actually commited their words to posterity they would think
on what I had written. A forelorn hope it would seem

Consciousness and Change, sir, are the universal threads that runs
through mortals. All mortals. They transcend race. They transcend
worlds. They transcend spheres.

I point your attention to the last sentence I wrote before inviting
reponses.

What you have espoused in your posting is a -belief-. While I have no
doubt that you, as a Viscanti and Magnagoran leader within your guild
and the city, are convinced that this -belief- is the one true -belief-
and there is no other I can assure you there are other people of the
Basin who are of the opposite opinion. In point of fact the vast
majority of the rest of the Basin.

I shall, this one time, indulge you so there is no doubt of my position
on taint, Viscanti and Magnagora.

The Viscanti have been so mutated, twisted and warped, in body and mind,
by their exposure to taint that the race they were before taint marred
them is unrecognizable and their minds are screaming down the corridors
of insanity convinced that of all people of the Basin they are the only
ones sane and correct. Insane people are invariably quite convinced, in
spite of all evidence to the contrary, that they are the only sane
people in existence and that they are right and they are never
convinced, in their insanity, that it is themselves who need to be
restrained and given large dozes of very strong drugs to help sooth and
calm their extremely troubled minds.

Viscanti are insane, sir, and while the insanity is as myriad in the
forms it manifests itself in as there are Viscanti it seems that one of
the primary forms is an obsessive compulsiveness regarding the forcing
of all Lusternia to accept taint.

The Magnagorans appeal to the basest emotions, principles and traits of
mortals to further their repeatedly stated mission of spreading taint
from horizon to horizon and on all planes. They will lie to, cheat,
steal from, coerce, bribe, threaten, enslave, torture and kill any and
all to further their stated purpose or use these tactics against any who
would oppose that purpose. It is pandemic among Magnagorans.

As Magnagora's stated purpose is to overrun all of the Basin and planes
with taint and as they are, demonstrably, warped and twisted in body and
mind by the taint to the point that they are nuttier than Grandma's
fruit cake the vast majority of the population of the Basin takes
exception to this purpose and these tactics. My, my, isn't that
surprizing?

The end has not ever, does not now, and will -never- justify the means
as Magnagora, it's guilds, leadership and citrizens stridently scream
and diligently practice, ad nauseum.

What you have presented when all is said and done is a tautology, sir.
'Taint is good because good is taint."

Magnagora's insistence that the end justifies the means, the appeal to
the most base, vile and disgusting traits and habits of mortals, as your
Lords of Nil not only encourage but demand, and the stated, repeatedly
stated in fact, purpose to force all to accept taint by any and all
means at your disposal does not build confidence.

Nor will I condone or placate those who espouse such a life view with
soft words and gentle head pattings. I do not care to live in a world
that is adminstered by the insane. As a healer my view is that far from
being in positions of power, in point of fact, the insane need to be
kept in small comfortably padded rooms, possibly restrained, to keep
them from hurting themselves and others, studied and administered heavy
doses of various and asundry medicines to help alleviate their distress.

I hope this clears up your confusion on what I was referring to when I
spoke of Consciouness and Change, sir.

My apologies for the lateness of this reply. 1000 gold for a public
missive is not an insignificant sum for a poor herbalist
