Serenwilde and Celest Alliance?

Greetings to the Basin of Life,

I'm a humble Elfen, not one to stick his nose in issues which have
little to do with him. However, this whisper I'm now hearing of an
alliance between Serenwilde and New Celest forces me to comment. I am
neither for, nor against this alliance, it is truely the choice of those
who live within those society's to decide and I'll not presume to.

In my time out of the Portal of Fate, which has been considerable, I've
observed Nature in all Her glory. I've watched forests grow tall and
bright, and at the same time, I've watched them darken as their boughs
grow tighter togeather, and then I've watched some of those boughs fall
to make way for those beneath to live. I've watched two forests, one
north and one south, follow this pattern. I find it curious, that
Serenwilde would forgive, and even more, ally itself with a city which,
for all purposes of morality and belief, has nothing in common with the
forest.

The only thing the two society's have in common seems to be their nearly
fanatical hatred of all things tainted. So, is this an alliance of
friendship, or an alliance of hatred, fueled by a hatred tward a people,
who have done little to acctually cause harm tward Serenwilde OR Celest
since it was founded. Is this alliance wise? Such an alliance will
eventually force a similar formal alliance between Magnagora and
Glomdoring... Again two society's which have nothing truely in common,
except for the common hatred of Celest and Serenwilde, and the desire to
remain.

I can understand the purpose of an alliance such as this. I can even
appreciate its advantages tward a society such as Serenwilde or Celest.
The beliefs of the two, however, severely conflict with eachother.
City's build themselves upon Nature, from Nature, against Nature. They
are Natures antithesis, its bane. A fire might destroy a part, or an
entire forest, but that forest would then grow back to new heights. A
forest destroyed and built over by a city will never grow back. It has
been seen that a forest consumed by the taint will not die, it will
continue to grow, and thrive. If this were not so, Glomdorings forest
would have died out ages ago.

I even find it curious that the Elder Gods could be so torn amongst one
another over this single entity. This 'Taint' is seen as evil incarnate
by some, and then its also seen as the engine of transformation by
others. Some Divines seek to destroy it, and all those effected by it,
thereby pulling all those mortals who might follow them into the fray as
well. And then those who are tainted have no choice but to fight for
their lives, and reinforce the entire theory that they are violent
beings. Surely they should drop their swords and allow themselves to be
cut down by those who are RIGHT, who want only to see them cleansed.

Well, since I've followed my train of thought well beyond the topic of
this post, I'll end it now... I'll leave you all with a few simple
questions to answer for yourselves.

Who are you as a people? Why do you hate the Taint? How does destroying
all things tainted cleanse it? And do you think for yourself, or do you
simply follow along to some other drumbeat?

Be well Basin of life, and find wisdom
