A common misconception

It seems a disturbing trend has emerged over a certain word and the
actions involved with it. I am frequently hearing that a certain city
and order are being hypocritical because they do not practice compassion
when they are supposed to be the epitome thereof. I'd like to quote a
wise, old and probably lost scroll.
Compassion: Noun meaning a deep awareness of the suffering of another
coupled with the wish to relieve it.
Now while it is true that compassion is frequently related to kindness,
second chances and love, that is not all it encompasses. We have a deep
awareness of the taint and the suffering it causes. We seek to relieve
it with through its death. Not all relief is done through the utter
ignorance and pacifism of others. It is done however is seen to be most
quick, most efficient, most humane and most sympathetically and this
involves death at times.
The practice of compassion also does not mean you can take advantage of
those using it. They will not remain welcome mats nor sit
"compassionately" by with hugs and kisses while you kill them.
Ultimately, compassion does not mean stupidity, pacifism, nor does it
mean ignorance, complacency, or the inability to do what one thinks is
right.
So, do not be so ignorant of the word that you seek to use it as a
weapon or crutch against those who practice compassion. We have
compassion yet we will not be door mats.
