Public News Post #140

Harvesting

Written by: Chieftess of the Serenguard, Charis Du'Vantae

Addressed to: Auseklis, the First Wanderer

As Lord Auseklis has requested me to reply to His post.

I spoke to You in private, M'lord and in a much... less cruel of a way
to prove Your point, You told me what You meant with that post and i
will repeat the Conversation here as i feel there is no other way to
word what we spoke about.

You tell Auseklis, the First Wanderer, "As You are a Divine, i will not
enemy You to the clan because You are far above me in every meaning
possible. You care not about herbs as You Yourself clearly stated in
numerous posts within the Serenwilde Newsboard. As Caedryn is a
Herbalist, the accusations made against him, i had perfect reason to
believe he did more than overharvest."

The Divine voice of Auseklis, the First Wanderer echoes in your head, "I
was merely wondering on what authority you had set up the meaningless
number of five, and why you feel you have to enforce it."

The Divine voice of Auseklis, the First Wanderer echoes in your head, "I
admit it was a rather cruel way to have a question answered."

You tell Auseklis, the First Wanderer, "I feel i have to atleast try and
help Nature because it helps me in so many ways, i felt that if i could
help/stop people overharvesting, no matter how it is done. I would have
helped Nature. As You have put, Nature does not need our help, but i
take from Nature and i feel, needed or not, i must protect it in
whatever way possible. As i am a herbalists, i could not think of a
better way."

The Divine voice of Auseklis, the First Wanderer echoes in your head, "I
don't think you can enforce it, and that was the point I was trying to
prove."

The Divine voice of Auseklis, the First Wanderer echoes in your head, "I
understand why you're doing it. Although I don't think it has anything
to do with nature."

You tell Auseklis, the First Wanderer, "Maybe not, but there is no harm
in trying. As many from what i have seen, have stuck to not harvesting
below 5, atleast those who have any decency whatsoever. I will admit it
is not all about Nature, it is also about being fair, so others of the
trade do not feel they chose the trade for nothing, when others are far
too greedy that they harvest everything possible. But the reason i set
the limit at 5 is mainly because i fear anything below that. During
hibernation season will be destroyed."

The Divine voice of Auseklis, the First Wanderer echoes in your head,
"Perhaps. I will leave it to your choice, but I would be aware that you
are taking on a task that is perhaps beyond your means in a method that
is also perhaps not the best to gain the cooperation of everyone."

The Divine voice of Auseklis, the First Wanderer echoes in your head,
"You may want to post a reply as well."

I do agree with You, Lord Auseklis - Perhaps my method was not the best
way to deal with the situation, but as i seem to have made an impact on
quite a few of the Herbalists i will continue to do as i am doing.
Perhaps with a few changes to the laws/punishments set forth within the
Combine.

Your Serenguard Herbalist,
Charis Du'Vantae

Penned by my hand on the 6th of Estar, in the year 103 CE.
