The Koan of Nekhba my answer.

In nature there is a natural balance when there is disruption to this
natural order nature must intervene with another way to balance itself.
As such there is theoretically a balance between conflict and harmony.
When this balance becomes tipped is when we should act when violence
seeks you out sometimes there is no other choice but to meet that
violence with violence so there can be a return to harmony.
But how do you decide when violence is needed? If by your inaction an
innocent would come to harm, you must. Just as you would combat fallacy
with truth, so too should we meet the aggressions of those who would
harm our city, our friends and our families with resistance of our own. I
do not wish for my message to be misinterpreted as a call for running
with nothing but fury and blind zeal into the fray. Rather, it is the
man who is saddened by the need for such actions that is truly the
victor.

It is your responsibility to determine which way the fight you are in
will tip the balance towards harmony or Violence. Allow me to end by
saying that being afraid of death shows slavery to the Asava, For our
greatest glory in battle is not in never falling, but rather in never
failing to rise every time we do.

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Shanthin, in the year 208 CE.
