Why does your Emperor live in a cave rather than a palace?

I attempted to contact Ladantine himself on this matter, but I am afraid
he was unavailable for comment. It appears that he is rather less than
Divine, and quite ungraceful, after his corpse has been offered to an
Elder Who is not a Traitor.
