Dear all,

As I expect has been noticed, I have been gone a while. I have mentioned the reason for my absence on the Lusternia Discord in passing but not everyone participates in discussions there, or you could well have missed it even if you do. I'm sorry I have not been able to keep everyone up to date properly but I am writing now to update you that I am back.

I would not normally elaborate on what has been going on with me, but the length of my absence was unlike anything in my Lusternian career. The longest I have ever been away from Lusternia was 3-4 weeks at a time tops, which happened but a few times since becoming an admin all the way back in 2011. This time I was as good as absent since mid-February, except for emergencies, and some admin and event support (like with Threadfall). The reason for this was a drastic worsening of my father's health, necessitating round-the-clock care and endless hospital visits. Between work and keeping everyone healthy and sane, I scarcely had time to do the same for myself.

In April and May, things seemed like they would be better soon but it was a false start - father started getting a bit better but work imploded. Things have been improving recently though and I have just wrapped up the worst of a recent work assignment, so you can expect to see a lot more of me. Nevertheless, some days and weekends will continue to be difficult time-wise and there is also a backlog from Nil to handle. We also already had a backlog created by the switch to legacy mode. We're going to keep on keeping on though!

I would like to update you all on what the admin have been working on and what the priorities will be but that can only happen once I touch base with the admin during check-ins, catch up on all the support emails, Discord, messages, issues and whatnot. I expect that by itself, and sorting it all into an actionable backlog, will easily take at least a week but I did not want to delay letting you know where things stand with me until then.
