The discovery of Xion

Raging hordes of crystal grodaks swept across the land as the spell cast
by Lacostian took hold, calling them from the aetherways onto prime.
Battle raged across the land for days upon days as grodaks were slain
and taken to the growing crystal spire on top of Avechna's Peak. The
spire absorbed the bodies of the grodaks, which merged into crystal
shards which required further processing before they could be used on
the spire, the problem here being that the instructions here were spoken
in the divine dialect of Ae. In the mean time, shards of the Akashic
started raining down on Prime, giving visions of history to any that
would take them and bestowing upon them knowledge of the past, including
Ae phrases that proved to be the key to solving the mystery of the
crystal shards.

Work continued for over a month until finally the last crystal shard was
placed into the spire, causing the structure to solidify completely.
Almost instantly a brilliant ray of light exploded into the sky over
Avechna's Peak from the spire, boring itself into reality and causing
the sky to shimmer. Not long after, the voice of Elcyrion was clearly
heard near the spire, expressing wonder over the structure which He had
not beheld since the onset of the Elder Wars. Elcyrion wasted little
time, explaining that he was stuck in Xion. Xyl's workshop had
originally functioned on four streams of elemental energies that were
fed to it directly from the elemental planes, two of these streams were
now dormant as their relative planes were missing, but the two others
had appeared to be ready for activation when Elcyrion checked them.
However, when Elcyrion attempted to restore the energies and power Xion,
the taint on the element of earth corrupted the logic crystal that
managed the energies from the elemental plane of earth and made it
incompatible to cooperate with the water crystal. Xion instantly went
into lockdown mode, sealing Elcyrion in the middle. Elcyrion stated that
the connection between prime and Xion should have pulled the
aetherbubble out of the fold in reality where it had been hidden since
the lockdown, and that mortals could now simply sail there. He bid them
make haste, as there was no telling when it would be too late.

A veritable armada of ships set out from the various docks of the world,
setting out to the far corners of aetherspace. The first to make its way
into the elemental aetherspace and disembark on Xion was a relatively
small ship, carrying only a few Magnagorans. Xion was found to be a
magnificent crystal structure, filled to the brim with arcane technology
not seen in the basin since Xyl had splintered into the lucidian race.
Confused but undaunted, the magnagorans set out to uncover the mysteries
of the structure. More ships slowly found their way to Xion, making for
a more mixed company in the crystal halls, and as old habits die hard,
conflict soon emerged, leading to the death of Caffrey. After this
incident things quickly escalated as warriors from Celest and Magnagora
covered the crystal corridors in blood, fighting over the contrast
between the earth and the water crystal.

In the midst of this chaos some people managed to make progress,
unsealing the command deck and releasing Xion from its state of
lockdown. Almost immediately the Earth and Water crystals released
assaults of energy upon each other as the security systems of Xion
initiated the defense mechanisms, covering Xion in the stamping feet of
crystal golems and a destruction countdown mechanism. The sounds of
clashing blades, muttered incantations and playing instruments filled
every corner of the crystal structure, drenching the floors in the blood
of constructs and mortals alike. From the midst of this chaos sounded
the pleading voice of Elcyrion, calling for people to stop fighting and
turn to the matter at hand. It would take a bold move on Celest's part
to stop the fighting however, as they managed to sneak past the
Magnagorans and disable the earth logic crystal's defenses. After this
act, the leaders of both groups finally realized that they were about to
die and decided to join forces to disable the earth logic crystal.

As the countdown continued to echo through the halls of Xion nearly
everyone present frantically tried to find a way into the laboratory
where shards were said to be present that could change the weakened
crystal's personality and unseal the systems of the workshop. Several
panels with access codes were located and attempts were made to complete
the sequences. At this point, several people decided that Xion was
becoming too hot for them and they ran to their ships, setting off into
aetherspace mere minutes before the end of the countdown sequence,
stating that the rest were welcome to die, but they weren't planning on
ending their lives at present. When the countdown finally reached zero
two of the three panels had been unlocked, leaving the laboratory still
sealed tight. Raging clouds of burning fire swept through Xion,
incinerating everything in its path and burning all present into an
early grave.

From this point onward it is unclear what exactly happened, though it
seems plausible that Elcyrion at this point decided that further help
from mortals was not forthcoming. The weakened state of the earth
crystal probably allowed Elcyrion to act in some way which produced the
subsequent results that were observed by mortals on prime. A collection
of planar phenomena were witnessed that appeared to be shaking the very
core of reality itself. The four nexusus sent beams of brilliant light
into the sky and rippling shrouds of aether filled everything as the
planes were pulled back into their original confirmation. A tortured
scream was heard amid the shimmering fabric of reality and a burst of
divine energy surged through all of the planes before everything went
quiet.

Moments later the night sky suddenly blossomed into a deep blue
twilight, which slowly shifted towards mount Seirode before leaving the
night sky behind again. When mortals made their way to the peak of the
mountain they were greeted by the sight of a shimmering divine, wreathed
in shrouds of light and shadow. The divine named Himself Elostian, a
complete merging of both Lacostian and Elcyrion which occurred when the
nexusus were sealed and anchored.

Many questions remain still, including how Elostian managed to combine
the essences of two deities without going insane, as well as the future
and purpose of the nexus worlds that now surround the nexusus and what
has become of Xion. Reality has suffered a grievous blow, and which
lasting effects will linger is something only time will reveal.
