The Necromentate

The Basin of Life has recently witnessed some curious activity in
Magnagora, leading to a rather dramatic spectacle. The venerable Great
Viscanti Houses had often aspired to create a living construct of power
and transformation within the Great Necropolis of Magnagora. But these
Great Houses had never cooperated fully before (indeed, they were often
at odds in the past), and all of their individual attempts ended in
rather astonishing failures.

However, at least some of the Great Viscanti Houses managed an uneasy
alliance and enlisted the help of some of the great minds of Magnagora.
House i'Xiia was the first to seek assistance, receiving aid from
Visaeris and many others. During that time, the howls of hungry dogs
that plague the city suddenly and inexplicably ceased. After almost a
month had passed, Snaikka i'Xiia suddenly announced success and Kaervas
was seen hurriedly leaving her tower surrounded by a circle of
bodyguards. Later, black clouds converged over Magnagora, unleashing a
torrent of crimson lightning over the Necropolis.

Snaikka sent forth a servant she had trained since birth to the
Necropolis, while several Nihilists, ur'Guard and Geomancers began a
vigil there, with a young viscanti named Mary earning a reputation for
being uncommonly strange even for a Geomancer. Meetings were held at
House d'Vanecu and there was a sudden flurry of travel aboard the Black
Reaver in the Sea of Despair. Several citizens such as Chade, Dias and
Garduhl made frequent trips to Spectre Isle at the command of the
d'Vanecus. After days of intense research, Seritul d'Vanecu announced
success on behalf of his house that the Necromentate had awakened. Soon
thereafter, psychic cries began to emanate from the Necropolis.

More meetings were held, this time in House d'Murani and House n'Rotri.
Kaelar, Daganev, Mordechai and Arilyon were often seen hurrying on
important missions as beggars began leaving the streets, suddenly
finding newfound purpose at the n'Rotri Spike.

As days turned into weeks which turned to months, the Necromentate, kept
cloistered deep within the bowels of the Necropolis, finally stopped its
psychic cries, and a globe of darkness erupted from the Necropolis and
surrounded the entire city to the great cries of joy of the citizens
there.

And thus does Magnagora transform, and thus does it prosper.

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Kiani, in the year 101 CE.
