The Viravain Catastrophe

Viravain, the Lady of the Summer Song, was slowly remaking the
Glomdoring Forest, transforming it back into what it was once known
as--the Gloriana. While remaking this Tainted land, Viravain sought
Estarra's advice on whether she would harm herself or others by using
the ancients magics of the lesser creators. Though Estarra did not care
whether the forest was tainted or not, she looked at what Viravain was
doing and deemed that if every room of the forest was remade, the Great
Ravenwood Tree would return, the Great Spirits would be cleansed of
Taint, and so too would Gloriana be reborn. But this task was tremendous
and Viravain was afraid that she could not do it, especially in the face
of those who opposed this remaking of Gloriana.

Unbeknownst to anyone, Raezon secretly began to advise Viravain and
convinced her that she was incapable of transforming every room. He
devised a scheme where he would help Viravain "borrow" the Seal of
Nature to use its magic to directly raise the Great Ravenwood Tree,
remaking the entire Gloriana in one swoop. Viravain was ecstatic that
she would not have to toil through the laborious plan that Estarra had
laid before her. Though it is unclear what Raezon expected to happen,
perhaps expecting a small crack in the Seal would taint Viravain or
perhaps he sought to channel some power for himself, the results were
more catastrophic than even he imagined.

Using the Seal of Nature, Viravain almost reached the point where she
could raise the Great Ravenwood. But as the power of the Seal waned, the
power of Kethuru began to break through. The creatures in the what
remained in the tainted forest began to be drawn towards Viravain,
overwhelming her in a mass and the Seal of Nature shattered. Kethuru
worked quickly to form a link into Viravain's essence and soon
controlled her.

Estarra quickly stepped in and attempted to destroy Viravain. But the
link with Kethuru was too strong and reality began to fragment.
Realizing that if she destroyed Viravain then so too would creation be
undone, which left Estarra no choice but to back away. Only Avechna
could return Kethuru to his prison but with the Seal of Nature broken,
Avechna could not arise. Worse yet, Viravain consumed the broken
fragments of the Seal of Nature in order that it could not be reformed.

The Elder Gods quickly rallied around Estarra. All enmity and squabbles
between them dropped in the face of this ultimate cataclysm. As the gods
huddle together and try desperately to devise a plan to break the link,
Viravain remains left loose to wreck havoc.

With no hope in sight, Lusternia knows despairs.
