Changing Moon of Today and the Fae by Tredian

Runner-Up for July 2023

Gentle, cool, silver light from above shines through the leaves

Waking up to laughter, rustles, nymphs whisper in the trees

Nymphs? My vials decayed but perhaps my senses remain

Bonds formed, minds melded, strings between hearts retain

"My Child", a voice behind me spoke, an apron hanging upon her neck

"Defender", from above a lady whose face some wrinkles bedeck

"Beloved", the maiden, singing before me, a kiss upon my head

A toad croaks beside me, foot moves alone, stomps it dead

Light leads me to follow, a willowisp who can resist

Childe of the Moon, dance, fly, let your shadow untwist

Ride upon your broom, roll, woosh from plane to plane

Stare off against a pooka, cackle at thoughts insane

Draw forth your hexes, taint creeps in the south

Behold the light of Mother Moon spreads through your hands and through your mouth

Sing with the banshee, sleep with a pixie, laugh with the brownie

Cast off your tattered robe, dance naked in this country

Mourn for the Broken Tower, curse the land with New Moon's Dark

But remember change is essential, take time to rekindle your spark

Ethereal Guardian, Fae-friend, Chosen of Ellindel

Keep the past close to heart

Weave new stories from your spindle

And don't forget Brother Hart
