The Ballad of the Crows. by Thompson

Merit for October 2005

Now shall be told
A story that is now of very old
But listen closely - I am imploring
The failed quest in the forest Glomdoring.

Visaeris, of Magnagoran hail, led
Himself to Glomdoring, in his City's stead
He wished to create a commune anew
Seeked the aide of a very select few

He asked for those who would sacrafice all
To revive the forest, and Ravenwood tall
Those that would leave their pasts behind
Who's fate, with Brennan's, would soon entwine

He got a ragtag group from Seren
Guido, Richter, Riyo, and Dyr
Yukari, and Gresh were from there as well
Nikua vowed - all would be felled.
From Magnagora came Rawkhi and Yuniko, and Atmos
I know not of what hardships they did undergo.

Under the Ravenwood, they started to grow
Naming themselves the Disciples of Crow
To hopefully inhabit the gret Glomdoring
With Rowena and Brennan and all sorts of things.

Finally, on the New moon
Crow was raised, but not too soon
For the Serenwilders - they struck him down
New Crow heros had lost again their crown.

Soon all of Serenwilde was entirly devoted
to killing the crows, maybe being promoted
and then they started to put up the totems
So that they may test where loyalties stem.

Magnagora had troubles with Visaeris
They enemied all, with trouble amiss
Celest had a problem with the taint, my friend
And tuning the statues was the new trend.

Spies came, and left, and came again
No one knew who why, or when
The Crows made a clever plan
They would pretend to publicly disband

But the plan did not work as well as planned
Old crows became part of Nikua's band
He found the clan out, and we were forced
to disband, or even worse

For a long, long time, Nikua did hunt
Those who attempted those brave, brave stunes.
Those who denied their cities to soar

To this day, Nikua hunts
Those who attempted those brave stunts
Those who thrive in the night, even while its pouring,
Those who can proudly say, "F'ai Glomdoring!"

Many years have past since the disciples were formed,
But now they are forgotten, even ignored.
But if not for them, would the Glomdoring exist now?
For their work, they should all be adored!
