Come to think of it, all the Elemental Planes except Earth have rooms which requires passage through the Nexus to access: the four rooms around the Flame, the four rooms around the Matrix, and the entire Mystic River/Lake of Dreams for Water. I don't know whether it's by design or somesuch.
