I'm trying to do the Savior of the Gnomes quest in Newton. I'm not asking for a hint or anything, I know how to do it. My issue is: am I trying to do all the steps too quickly?

After giving the queen ant the crystals the first time, I go through the steps I need to take, and then, when trying to give her crystals again after all that, she won't take them, saying that she already dropped it at the top of the mountain. By the time she'll take crystals again, my quest item has decayed.

Does she just reset really slowly? Am I mucking it up by continuing to try and give her crystals before she's reset?

Have you tried giving her a different crystal by number?

If that doesn't work, you can get up there through the Fink's Mother - is it Mother Mucka? - the one in Smoke Mountain, anyway - by giving her an ant larvae.

I wish you could ask for help when I tried the Fink version. I basically had it all completed, but couldn't figure out how to work the blasted catapult It must have something to do with the boulder, but I never managed to connect the dots...

I still don't know how to do the fink version. >< I can't even remember how I figured out the Gnome one.

Basically, the ant queen won't accept the same crystal twice. You need to make sure that the crystal you give her is a different one. Check the ID number, as Esano suggested.

I think the change first happened on crisis core, but don't quote me on this

How the hell do you get to an aetherbubble from the Aetherplex? I can't use any special skills except for forcefield, glide, and steer and I can't see a way to get across all those uncrossable Xs.

Should help out a bit. From the aetherplex, head northeast until you run into that east-west wall, then head east along it until you find a 1-wide slipstream. That'll let you out.

Unfortunately Elryn (and virtually all the chroniclers actually) has gone silent so I don't have a source for future updates. (So please volunteer to help update some part of the wiki!)
