How does one update the player honors information on the website? Mine still says I'm level 4. sad.gif

Changing your motto/wc updates it all, minus the explorers page.

Mine still says I'm level 1. The help-files has been out-of-sync as well for a while now...

That's because you force the change. tongue.gif It doesn't update automatically

Why is it often said that warriors are more expensive than monks?

Monk: Kata & Kata Specialization, Harmony/Stealth, Acrobatics or Psionic & Psychometabolism, Combat

Warrior: Knighthood & Knighthood Specialization, Rituals & Specialization or Hunting & Tracking, Athletics, Combat

They both have an equal number of skills regarding combat and hunting, don't they?

It's about gear. Warriors cannot hunt without weapons. Monks can.
Eldanien2010-01-26 18:10:14
Warriors get more benefit from artifacts than others, hence some of the game balance has to account for that. The end result is that for a given value of effectiveness, warriors require more artifact assistance. That's where the extra costs come in.

As well, to 'max' out a warrior, you'd first trans Forging to make yourself full plate, then forget Forging to pick up a different tradeskill with another benefit. Only warriors are able to do something like this, and like artifacts, balance has to account for it. Hence, a warrior who hasn't done this is behind the curve.

PvE does not require any special weapons on the part of a warrior. In fact as I understand things it is now harder for a monk to get a good weapon because of the forging changes. A basic set of cheap weapons though is going to be on par with ppk.

For PvP it might be the case that warriors cost more, that I am not sure about.

I never got my warrior past 70's or so, but I'd have to concur with Atellus. The only weapon stat that seems important as far as warrior hunting goes is speed. Or at least, that was true the last time I played my warrior alt a year or so ago. Given tempering, that's not much of an issue. Yes, warriors have to have weapons whereas monks can hunt unarmed. But considering that warriors also wind up marginally superior hunters to monks, I consider that cost difference negligible, readily made up for from hunting profits.

Conversely, I'm finding that in order to beat unarmed hunting as a monk (ie, max out my monk), I need to push my kata weapon speeds to the extreme. I've got a poor Paladin slaving away to make a 215 and 220 speed tahto for Eldanien, the latter being virtually impossible. There is no tempering kata weapons. I'm paying him credits for success - something a warrior doesn't have to do these days.

Early on and short term, warriors do have to shell out more money for the costs of equipment. But longterm, I'd say the monk pays more. Plate is generally most, or entirely, metal. Metals get recovered. Fullplate never decays at all. Robes do decay, and the materials aren't normally recoverable. Even with artifact shears, the returned material is minor. Each decay, that's another pile of materials, enchanting, proofings.

This isn't a whine, just an observation. Different classes are different. Go figure.

Update something about your character (motto, race, etc).

On the other hand though, I don't think the penalty for not having a 215/220 speed tahto is quite as strong for monks, but I have no numbers to back that up. You'll be a bit slower, but you can also switch to Kephera/Illithoid to get the +10 racial bonus, which is quite nice (you can also use akhang, which is another +10 at the expense of more useful harmony chants). Plus, there aren't as many artifacts we can stick on our weapons.

I am trying to connect to Lusternia through Zmud and Mudbot, but I made the excellent choice of deleting all of the default icons in favor of having one character in the bin.

I am now, however, regretting this choice, as I do not know which Host IP to put in the relevant place. Which do I use for it?

Actually, you can stick all the runes except the +wounds ones. I used to have +5 runes on my shofa.

lusternia.com port 23

Isn't there a different IP for that allows Mudbot to work?
Ssaliss2010-01-26 22:48:48
If you want to get technical, lusternia.com isn't the IP (although it should work just as well). The IP is 64.127.116.166. I also think that you can use port 2003 (or if it was 2000), but I can't check it right away since MS so wisely decided to remove telnet from Vista...

Can't you just ping lusternia.com from the command prompt to get the IP address? Or is that what you mean by "they removed telnet"?

Also, if you ever forget....

The telnet address is lusternia.com, port 23 or port 2003, and numeric IP address is 64.127.116.166.
