So uh. The glacier sea/shattered earth areas re-map after the quest is done, right?

What do you mean by re-map? Part of the quest (for SE, at least) involves opening up new rooms, which are not closed until the Terae quest is finished, yes.

If you mean "will MAP work", I believe the answer is no, not at any point during the quest - probably due to the aforementioned rooms. And Glacier Sea shifts.
Talan2010-01-17 07:27:10
Well. My map of the glacier sea right now is a perfect diamond with no loops, and looks nothing at all like Caffrey's map. I shall change my simple question to "so what's with that?" then.
Rika2010-01-17 07:43:41
The Glacial Sea shifts around I thought. It's like one of the rings will turn one way while another turns another or something weird like that. Don't take my word for it though.

Ask Saaga. She's CR6 and will be able to tell you the other two for Hallifax.

I wouldn't usually do this, but I just have to, because the Hallifax abilities are -so- awesome.

Syntax: INFLUENCE WITH ASSIMILATION
Ego Battle: Hallifax City Influence*
Only through assimilation into the collective of Hallifax can one truly find
both inner and outer harmony. It is your duty to assimilate those who futilely
resist becoming one with society.

*This skill can only be used on denizens of an uninfluenced village. See
Politics.

Syntax: INFLUENCE WITH ACCORDANCE
Ego Battle: Hallifax City Influence*
One of the great strengths of Hallifax is to find accord between disparate
groups. Use your ability at diplomacy and negotiation to bring others into
harmony with society.

*This skill can only be used on denizens of an uninfluenced village. See
Politics.

Syntax: INFLUENCE WITH COLLABORATION
Ego Battle: Hallifax City Influence*
The first step to enjoining others to serve society is through collaboration.
Find out their needs and wants and show them that it could be found only in
Hallifax.

*This skill can only be used on denizens of an uninfluenced village. See
Politics.

For some reason we all got accordance first but it's listed as second after assimilation?

For Xiel:
CODE
Special Influence Skills Granted by Hallifax.
Assimilation        Bring others into the collective through assimilation.
Accordance          Reconcile differences and settle conflicts.
Collaboration       Harmony begins through collaboration with the downtrodden.
Elostian2010-01-17 11:00:40
This being hallifax, I am sure there is a perfectly logical bureaucratic law that states accordance must come before assomilation in practice but not in display.
Eventru2010-01-17 11:03:16
If there's not, Rika isn't doing her job.

For monks, do modifiers such as hard or smash or twist (ones that increase damage at the expense of wounding or vice versa) help with bashing mobs?

Nope.

If tests on beasts are any useful indication, my forms do exactly the same amount of damage to Rjana with or without hard/soft on, so no.

What kind of clothing (other than armor, of course) should a Serenguard be wearing, in particular male Serenguards? Does it matter?
Xavius2010-01-17 17:48:19
Most people just wear things that provide utility. I don't know if you can stack a coat and cloak with armor.

So the only useful modifier for bashing is speed? And if I'm doing this right, then you really only need momentum 2 for your most "effective" bashing form?

I like to wear a proofed cape with my armor. Shoes are good, too. Other than that, the armor pretty much covers it.

Been a while since I've been on either monk, but speed, your weapon form, and possibly raze are all you'll really need to bash.

I've seen a lot of arguments back and forth about whether or not to use katachains, but I personally prefer it for the slight boost to speed they'll give you. Just keep an alias/macro on standby with your raze form.

There are two incarnations of Glacier Sea. One when it is purely a glacier. That's when it is a nifty diamond shape. Halfway through the quest, after placing the poles and fighting of the earth elementals, it changed into what you see on Caffrey's map, with two horseshoes, and some ice drifting around that connects the horseshoe shapes.

The most effective hunting form is attack/attack/kick, with speed The raze mod if you want to get technical, but adding a 3 power cost to a kata is the most useless thing since Jack getting a vasectomy. He doesn't reproduce anyway.

You have to perform 3 forms before you are able to change your form. So a raze macro is not very useful when bashing. I tried to make kata chains work but it was just too easy to hit a shield and that wasted more time than the benefit of getting the kata chain speed boost.

So now I bash exactly like a warrior, one form at a time, automatically changing to raze as required. It is slightly slower than it used to be but not a huge deal. The only twist is calculating your momentum and adding speed when you can.
