What happens if an Ascendant loses all his or her essence? I know they don't go back to Titan or anything, but would they be able to Phoenix? Can you go into the negative essence? That'd be interesting...

They would be forced to reform overtime (15 minutes?), if they don't have the essence to reincarnate (instant).

Is it possible to lose experience in the Arena from healing ego burnout?

amethyst, beryl, bloodstone, coral, diamond, emerald, garnet, jade, moonstone, onyx, opal, pearl, ruby, sapphire, turquoise, infernobeetle

The last one can be used for obsidian, and is a PAIN to get just for an earring. I've SEEN topaz as well, but only in reference to the colour, and in a Divine creation. Likewise there's also crystal, which you can use raw gem comms for, if you feel like making an expensive design.

I think she wants to know what other gems that don't exist as cut gems can also count towards being replaced by gem clusters.

I know I've seen azurite and amber in designs, for instance, and am pretty sure those require gem clusters too. I don't think there's a ready list of what else the Charites will accept in this manner; trial and error is more likely the way to go.

Could also send them a message, if you have specific questions. I tend to lean that direction, so I don't waste their time with illegal designs.

No such thing as negative essence, you'd just hang out at 0.

And, as Talan said, you can't reform early if you don't have 250k on you. Though the time dropped to 10 minutes or so for a reform instead of 15 back when they made us start losing 50k on each death instead of it being absolutely cost-less.

Right. You lose demigod if you hit 0 essence, and drop to 66% (or is it 67%? Fairly sure you lose about a third of the level) through Titan.
