From HELP LOWMAGIC:

Notice how it doesn't say totems? You can have lowmagic and rituals too or you can have highmagic and totems.

So I know generally having an item in your description is frowned upon but I was wondering if it'd be "ok" to add a doll into since the character always has it on her person? I haven't seen a doll in-game except for the dingbat dolls.

If it's a defining part of your character then it's typically okay to include it in your desc.
