Ah, I see where the issue is. "No penalty" means, to some people, "You don't get the -1 at day." To other people, it means, "Always have a bonus". Having gone digging through some old forum posts when it was introduced to figure out where the disconnect is...

However, this makes me wonder what exactly was going on when it was decided to make it a permanent +2 str/+2 int. That means that something which was meant to be a "minor boost" over the original Lich is now giving +6 weighted stat points over its old version during the day (instead of -1/-1, it is giving +2/+2). By "no penalty," it really should mean "there is no penalty-- that is, during the day you get -0/+0."

Hrm.

The wording however doesn't say 'no penalty', it says 'full benefit'. If it said no penalty, I'd agree with you, but with the 'full benefit in the light as well as the dark' wording, it sounds much more like Archliches get the full effects constantly.

You're right that the wording in the AB says that it does not lose the effect during the day. I'm more talking about the wording that Magnagora (both Melville in his response up above, as well as numerous envoys in many discussions involving Lich) have used repeatedly. It's been a pretty constant refrain, even since the very first post I could find on Archlich (from Nariah).

Which is why I am suddenly seeing an issue, given that it's not working the way I (and others) have been told it does (and that the way it's working is pretty darned excessive).

tongue.gif Good catch. I'm so used to hearing it that it comes right out on "paper". Grrr.

Think that almost gave me brain damage. But yeah, I agree with you on how it was worded in the posts, but I would have likely worded it the same way and not used the 'full benefit' wording.

It's one of those things where it's really easy to write it one way, but it's just as easy to read that way as something with a completely different meaning. :/

That's quite a bit of fun to do, sometimes. Especially if you decide to speak solely in ambiguous sentences.

Wait, so the net effect is +6 weight points? Or is it +2 weight points? Or.... +2 unweighted stat points? SO CONFUSED!

The net effect during the daytime is +6 weighted points over the previous effect. The nighttime effect is unchanged.

(+6 weighted points is not a small bonus!)

Here, for those confused. As a Master Viscanti I have 15 Intelligence and 11 Strength without any buffs. I currently have 18/13. That is with Archlich and a minor blessing from the Domoth of Knowledge (+2 weighted)
Razenth2009-09-02 22:03:04
If you get a hero fete, do you get 19 int?

As a demi I have Strength : 12 Dexterity : 12 Constitution : 16 Intelligence : 21 Size : 1 Charisma : 17
1 intel is from fortuna, and one charisma is from the throne
Razenth2009-09-02 22:18:09
Are Demi and Titan bonuses weighted or unweighted?
Karel2009-09-02 22:21:14
A couple more to make sure my RP is within the proper boundaries. For Dreamweaving, could I present my dreambody as a ghost and make someone believe he was being haunted? For all practical purposes, it seems to be about the same, but is there some little IG difference between dreambodies and ghosts that I'm missing?

You can make someone believe he is being haunted, sure. And pretend to be a ghost. If they believe you, fine, but you aren't -actually- a ghost.

Ghosts don't get to do all the dreamweavery stuff, they just get to float around as an insubstantial thing.
Karel2009-09-02 22:28:27
Ah, OK, that works. Thanks! Sorry if it seems like I'm splitting hairs when it comes to dreamweaving...I'm just anal-retentive about getting these things right.

Yes.

Also, your forum name is wrong. You are not only not a Serenguard, you aren't even a warrior.

On a COMPLETELY unrelated note that is in no way connected to Karel's query, can Discernment Thirdeye be used to see people in dreamform?
