Is there some sneaky formula that's used to calculate instrument aptitude? My lyre decayed while I was dormant and I've been sitting here playing a bunch of musical stuff on the new instrument and it gave me 1% at the start and nothing for like 20 mins now. :/
+1% for every IC day that you play.
Unknown2009-08-17 07:00:07
I think its random the first thing you play an IC day has a chance of bringing up a 1 or 2%

You'll be amazed how short 50-100 IC days are.
Probably won't notice it if you've other things to do like questing for power and/or gold.
Arak2009-08-17 07:16:22
If necessary, you can log in (when you normally wouldn't), strum a few notes, and log back out. Any music played during any day makes that whole day a success.

Does the vitae effect persist through logging out?
Yes, but it doesn't last forever. I think it has a timer of a few months, not too sure.

Definitely not. I still had a vitae def up after I came back, and I was gone for decades.
Esano2009-08-17 08:39:49
Vitae lasts until you die (unless something like inquisition strips it). Quitting doesn't strip it.
And yes, 1% per day for aptitude, or you can grab a rune. It goes quick, though. And if you were ACTIVE you'd never lose it, as playing turns back the decay.

How hard would it be to make the longer honours quests track who completed the most subquests and award that person the honours line at the end? (Hint: not very).
No reason for me wondering this, of course!

o You can enemy multiple people in one command:

Any particular reason that the ALLY command didn't get a similar upgrade?

The massenemy was to change Gloomtide. What I don't get is why they added both the massenemy and a power cost for it

A power cost was added to Gloomtide you mean? I don't lose any power when I enemy 25 people at once.

Don't use that. Use http://xieltalnara.googlepages.com/
One is properly updated within hours of any change. One is not. Won't take you long to figure out which is which!
EDIT: But Scrying Pool has other useful stuff, so it's good to know both.

The Scrying Pool attempts to explain what a skill is. Xiel's pages quote the AB. So depends on what you want.
The Scrying Pool has a search function. If you can search Xiel's pages, I haven't found how to do so yet. I often don't know which skillset a skill is in, so rather than poking through all the skillsets I want to be able to do a search.
The Scrying Pool is MUCH easier to read, in my browser. The colors on Xiel's pages, while pretty, give me eyestrain when reading. For this reason alone, I'll try the Scrying Pool first every time. As you say, it's not updated as religiously as Xiel's site, and so Xiel's pages are an absolute must for the latest information.

Say, does anyone know what this is:
A soft pink glow flows out of (Anonymous Shofangi)'s chest and covers you.
I know it causes pacification, but I don't know how to avoid it (and it kills comboed attacks!)

What else, other than Scholars, will help me be rid of damned-ness? Bards doesn't, power doesn't, can't do supplicants, commodities doesn't, bah!

That's chuuti, the obnoxious Harmony pacification. You can stop it by never attacking someone with Harmony. Otherwise, well, maybe try some oolong.
