- Affliction Text: stares intently at you, and their eyes pierce directly to the very core of your being. Suddenly, your limbs begin to stiffen and go numb. You feel very heavy, and though you try to cry out in protest, you do not have the chance before your senses fade into darkness, your form having been transformed into solid stone.
- Appearance: An incredibly lifelike statue of is here, preserved in a dramatic battle pose.
- If not cured, praying for salvation is required.
- If cured, defenses are not lost.

*Curer*: As you spread the salve over the surface of the statue, it begins to soften and turn from stone grey to its natural flesh form. gradually begins to regain their senses until they look over to you with a grateful smile, having recovered full mobility.

As your senses return, you become aware of the hands of an unknown benefactor sliding over your skin, applying a curative. Finally regaining your sight, you look over and see , who was kind enough to rescue you from your unpleasant fate.

If by "acts like death" I assume they also become untargettable by hostile actions.

Can people rezz you via resurgem and like skills, and can you determine if a rezz defence such as lich is used right away or wait if you want for someone to heal you?

Diarrhea

puts you in a state of Diarrhea where you get stunned every 2 seconds with a duration of .5 seconds.. plus gives you a stinky smell that if not cleansed gives you the vomit affliction ninja.gif

Resurgem requires a corpse. Petrification leaves no corpse, just the immovable object in the room representing the corpse. Think fossil, only you can cure it.

As for Lich, Lich wouldn't work either. Again, you're petrified, turned to stone. All your abilities are pretty much nullified. However, being petrified and then healed will not strip Lich.

A forgotten detail, it would show up on Deathsight.
Message: has been turned to stone by the piercing gaze of .

Really the whole reason I designed this affliction is so maybe Basilisks could be implemented into the game when the next new area shows up. It wouldn't be a player-usable affliction. At least, not at first.

Well, that's why I asked, because it essentially is either pray, where you'd lose a large amount of experience; or wait, possibly until whatever conflict occurs is over. That would make the affliction HIGHLY overpowerd.

So, to make it somewhat reasonable, I suggest either:
1 Victims of this affliction can be rezzed by others as if they were dead, and if have a defense such as lich can activate it somehow.
2 Return to a normal state after a short period of time.
3 Some combination of the two listed above.

I could insert a Mag-style complaint right now, but I'll leave it to them. sleep.gif

Already exists - what do you think dysentary is?

I think that the affliction requirements of half-mana or half-health are really low for what this affliction does. Effectively you're stripping any form of resurrection defense, but in exchange you give the possibility of not losing anything at all (experience, power, defup time, and the rest).

I always think it's funny that people complain about having to pray. I think it should be required for most of the player base at least every other day. Especially compared to a game like Aetolia where you usually have to pray.

I don't really want to start a flame war about praying for salvation or not; I just threw out my opinion so I could say that I don't really see this as being overpowered.

Alternately, if instead of being able to directly PRAY FOR SALVATION, you were given some form of heartstop that would kill you outright and activate whatever death defenses you had. It would also produce a soul that could wander off for a resurrection.

If that happened, it would make it something closer to ToadCurse. A pseudo-instakill that is actually survivable. Especially if once you're a statue the bad guys can't do anything to you anymore. You could theoretically just sit there indefinitely, spying on them (and relaying information via IM or whatever) without losing experience and (presumably) the other person not gaining any.

So to prevent it from being just any other instakill, because I really like the concept of alternate forms of death, what if you either couldn't kill yourself right away. So you could either go straight to the Fates as soon as you were petrified, or you could wait a minute or two and then heartstop, which would activate any rezz skills you have active or release your soul if you don't have any.

That way this affliction could help stop people from popping right back into a fight, without necessarily killing all of the rezz skills people are so attached to. They have the choice of either praying right away, waiting a little while for the heartstop equivalent turning it into a normal death experience, or having a buddy come and thaw them out.

1. You wouldn't be able to communicate with anyone while petrified. The only things you can do are PRAY or QUIT. If you QUIT, your statue self disappears. You re-login, you're still a statue.

2. This wouldn't be a player-usable affliction!! This affliction is purely meant for use by an NPC.
Unknown2006-11-13 07:37:10
I like the idea, but I don't like the requirements. Couldn't you think of some better conditions for it? Something about being transfixed, perhaps.
Unknown2006-11-18 00:48:52
CutInTwo: a instakill for pureblades and axelords. Critical Chest wounds. You cut them in half.
Brokenkneecap: Breaks your kneecaps so you can't stand up. Stackable with broken legs and cured the same way. Leg wounds.
ManaBleeding: Makes it so that you lose mana when you bleed. More then It would take to clot. Cured by Reshi.
Bruised: You take extra pyhsical damage to this body part. Medium wounds, any part.

Petrification

So if say... Mag raids Celest, raiding party got scattered leaving.. say Daevos, somewhere in the City. Someone used Petrification on him, leaving him in a semi-permanent statue state inside with no means of escape other than another raid? If he gets petrified in a guarded room then its nearly impossible for him to get cured.

EDIT: ah so npc affliction.. huh.gif unsure.gif glare.gif

Unknown2006-11-18 06:11:26
Even then, He'd just have to pray.
Gelo2006-11-18 08:55:16
Still doesnt make any sense.. How can you pray when you cant even speak or communicate mentally? (Sending tells is telepathic ability, as described in the newbie introduction) huh.gif
