Subj: Stockrooms and Items

The legitimate use of stockrooms is to store items to be sold, and the
reason items do not decay in them is to help facilitate the sale of
these items without penalizing shopkeepers if they don't sell quickly.

With that in mind, stockrooms have been used to store personal use items
with no intent of being sold. This has several negative side-effects:
mainly, a huge number of cheaply made items being stored increases our
database size (which could have eventual consequences of game lag), but
also some cases of poor sportsmanship with regards to other players'
items (ie, storing enemy dark nest eggs solely to prevent summoning a
new one).

Due to these issues, and that storing such items does not align with the
purpose of stockroom non-decay, many of these non-sellable items will
begin to decay in stockrooms. These include, but are not limited to:

- Tarot cards
- Stealth masks
- Mushroom spores
- Crow cloaks
- Black Nest eggs

New instances of these items will begin to decay immediately, but there
will be a grace period for currently existing items.

Penned by My hand on the 3rd of Dioni, in the year 205 CE.

So much for getting crow cloaks for influencing now.

So much for using Crowform...

Well, it still really needs a fix. If I can ever come up with something else that hasn't been rejected.

I guess it's time to try to come up with an actual fix for it (again).

How does Crowform get affected by this?

How does Crowform get affected by this?

Egg: 10 power.
Crowform: 10 power.

Having an egg gives "free Crowform."

Now, tell me how much Crowform costs in this case when an egg lasts until you die or the month changes, and Crowform lasts until you die / logout.

Oh, look at that. Still 10 power. Woohoo.

There is some point to using it when it costs 0p, but at its 10p cost, there really isn't.

Still, making it so the eggs can't be stolen and put in an aethershop is okay. The best fix would be to just make touching the DarkNest summon your egg back to you, though.
Rika2008-04-28 04:03:27
Ah, makes sense then. Also, refresh power!

Hm. Good point. But that's a bit less of an option for the generic Crow-y than using your own / a friend's shop to store your egg.
Unknown2008-04-28 11:44:38
Um, you shouldn't be getting Crowform for 0 power in any case! My Stagform costs me 10 power every time I activate it, and that's perfectly okay with me.

You do realize that was (and still is, even though it no longer actually saves a thing) the intended benefit of the Dark Nest for Crow users, yes? The Antler-Column for Serenwilde would have the same benefit for Stagform, most likely.

That said, I will agree with you that Stagform is superior to Crowform for warriors, by a significant margin.

Ah, construct thing. Gotcha. So, the eggs only last one IC month? They should last longer than that then, eh?

They should last longer, and be resummonable by touching the Dark Nest again (if you don't have one, it creates one. If you have one, it is summoned to your hands). The last fix for it I'd like is that it be unGETtable by anyone but its owner, but that's less necessary. The first two are things we've been asking for for a long, long time (and would have saved having to write a post about 'bad sportsmanship' by stashing an egg in an enemy stockroom).

Just haven't had it happen yet.

Subj: Misc Bug Fixes

- Enchanters can now enchant magic tomes with all four spells, not just
Healing, using the syntax specified in the AB scroll.

- As the AB scroll states, only magical attacks, not also physical ones,
will charge the Healing page of a magic tome.

- Tierstones and seeing stones will correctly show bookshelves and
crow nests based on what's at the target's location, not yours.

- Trueheal will heal ego as it does health and mana.

- The arena won't collect your gold if you can't be assigned to a team
in Wargames.

- Carrion won't be used up when Crows spit in the arena.

- Animated daggers will stop attacking after you leave the arena.

- Rubble raised in the arena will be eliminated, not moved to the
spectator room, when you leave the arena.

- Starleaper won't drain you of endurance if you have a punctured lung.

- Dreamweaver dreamspeech isn't affected by the wind.

- You can now attach fist sigils to guild artifacts.

- Headless corpses cannot be used for resurgem.

- Facebook blessings for adopting a child will show the right names.

- Funneling energy from a nexus to an aethership will check, and show,
the right nexus, not the one you're docked near.

- Ascendance Flight is no longer stopped by being vined, paralyzed, etc.

- Cockatrices can now be used to make Ecology fetishes.

- You can now DRINK a milk commodity. Milk does a body good!

- Artisan largetables will now correctly increase nutrition gained when
you eat while sitting at one, even for normal meals (i.e., not
herofetes).

- Tells will go by the best match, not the first match, for a name.
That means you can send Henrietta a tell even when Henri is online,
and vice versa.

- Quitting from inside a tent, maze, etc. should no longer drop you
unprotected into aetherspace.

Trueheal fixes ego? That makes the skill fairer when Celestians use it against Telepaths- but doesn't it also mean that a Celestian literally has an extra life while influencing? This will tilt revolts hard towards Celest, so I wonder if that's going to be considered in the skill balance.
Shamarah2008-04-30 21:03:56
You realize that not every bugfix of a Celestian skill is automatically gamebreaking, yes?

Oh come on.

This new announce is only helping me firmly believe that the best ability in Ascendance is indeed Flight, which may or may not be depressing.
