Fortunately for us, what happens with skills in other IRE games has little bearing here.
Ildaudid2008-01-11 05:20:12
True but being the most pampered IRE realms, allowing for things like avenger and a forum based on whining about things that cause a player to change their way of fighting others, have made Lusternians in general rather soft.

"They don't want balance, they just want to nerf us because it's hard and they're spoiled."

An open question to the monks and bards of Lusternia: All archetypes take time to learn and master offensively. Trigger lines take about a day to add. Now, if you couldn't fight at the top tier in your old archetype...what has lead you to believe that you should be fighting in the top tier in your new archetype, which you have even less experience in?

Telepathy radiance was stopped by entering the same room as the monk. Everyone in Achaea has the ability to receive tattoos, and one of those tattoos was called the prism tattoo. You would just prism to the monk, stopping the attack. The good part was that the monk would remain off-equilibrium until radiance was nearly over. It was an insta-kill that took so long to complete, that most would lose a mind lock in the process (I don't remember exactly, but the insta-kill took near 20 seconds to complete). You also had enough time to get away, no matter the circumstance. The only way to balance it here in lust would be to make it impossible to use near a nexus.

Also, the monk could not perform any actions until the insta-kill was completed (once it was balanced).

Do you have to be in the room to start a mindlock?

no, same area but it took some time, and some skills could prevent it, you needed a higher mini skill than the other to get it quicker... and there was a skill that could conceal it.

edit- all my answers are based from imperian, not achea. I have no clue how it may have worked there.

edit @Xavius, I don't fight top tier in my new monk class... I haven't bothered to really learn it yet. I have gotten maybe a couple kills off, but haven't really tried fighting with it. So I guess the answer is no, I don't expect to be able to take out anyone one who I would consider top-tier with it yet. I am sure I can take out some who think they are top-tier though. Simply because I already know how they fight, and the normal routines they use, so just by anticipating them and hitting with counters (be they monk/mage/bard counters) I am sure I will not have a huge problem with it.

I'm not top tier by any means, but I'll throw this out there. Perhaps it's just fighting style. The Timed attacks a Nihilist requires might not work well for someone, but the steady, calculated attacks of a warrior might fit their style. Affliction classes might not be their style, maybe damage bombardment is more for them...i.e. bards.

How do you compare monks here and elsewhere?

Firstly... at least they have to read and react to the person they're facing instead of just stringing a bunch of kata forms together three months earlier and pressing macros to be effective (as has been said).

Look at the afflictions Ninjakari can do that are built upon attacks that can't really be avoided and you compare that with broken limbs, stupidity, and such? Really?

The only thing that sounds similar is that the Ninjakari get a deliverance-like skill as well that just prones and stuns anyone that attacks them instead of killing them, which was mentioned as being the one OP skill elsewhere.

I can't think of any top tier fighters that are bards or monks that weren't equally successful in another guild.

Latest Envoy Report: Masked Individuals can't use Portals or Modules, so no entering a Manse masked anymore.
Jigan2008-01-16 01:51:12
Does it also apply to leaving a manse as well?

was there a bug with masked people are something? why this nerf?

or does it only apply to stealth mask and not maurader masks?

edit: oh good maurader masks still work

My bet is it's probably to prevent people from using Manses to enter and exit cities and communes using a powerful stealth skill. Maybe they want them to go through the darn gates of the city or the paths in the forest.
Shiri2008-01-16 02:14:52
I thought it was about people being jumped in manses, where people shouldn't ordinarily be able to go? chin.gif
Jigan2008-01-16 02:25:02
I'm thinking maybe someone may have been using a manse that registered them as "Ok" rather than the normal "Bar closed" kinda thing with perms to enter Celest or something. I'm unsure on that though. Kinda using someone's face to enter the Pilgrim and then enter Celest because they were reconized as friend, not foe.

that change wasn't really needed >.>
Shiri2008-01-16 02:39:50
If that were the only reason, it wouldn't even be worth a city policy change, much less an envoy change. There are like inf manses you can raid places through.
Unknown2008-01-16 02:43:28
I shudder at the thought that someone could have snuck into my personal manse while I was away without permission!
Unknown2008-01-16 02:43:33
I'm sure an admin will elaborate.

Maybe it's to balance stealth. Perhaps there are skills that can negate certain forms of stealth (scent?) but would be too easy to avoid if you can just portal out.

Sounds like someone was acting like an ass and stealing ships from people who were off them... Say like a nexus battle, wearing a Forren mask and jumping into his ship to take it out into space so they had no way to use it kind of thing.

Should just cause the mask to drop upon typing portal enter or module lock... not sure if that is able to be done though.

I doubt it was as much about people killing people at the pool and leaving through manses to get out... I mean I have access to every org through many manses (although I would never make a raid through one, thats lame) and a mask wouldnt stop me from using the portals if that was the reason.

Yeah, that's probably it, more likely than my thought too.
