Give it some time, see how it does. We could have them make a giant gold Dig'Em the Frog statue to divert your attention. But seriously. There are alot of good changes involved that have been done to all monks, helping out all specs in Monks.

I talked to Aniri who was performing the forms on me, and she did not notice much of a change. What is even more alarming is that she was not even using any speed mods.

Ok, I will have to find someone with an accurate timer and check this out. Then I need to find someone under size 12 to test if you can always writhe out from grapples due to uniform speed now (this seemed to be the case while testing earlier). We might find that grapples need to be extended and forms in general slowed marginally.

EDIT: Apparently the grapple thing was fixed.
Xavius2008-01-11 03:57:38
If the monk committee that suggested those changes is the same monk committee that helped design the monks, then said committee needs to not be involved in any future discussion regarding monk rebalancing.

I'm looking back at that list going...wow, I thought Achaea's monks were OP.

You completely missed out on all the punches. And the always overpowered sting/punch/punch combo every 2 seconds.

Maybe that's why I'm looking at it, wondering what the big deal was. Wasn't it, like...oh noes, bbt? We gave an upgraded version of that to the Tahtetso and the same general thing to the Shofangi. Cripple? Everyone has sprawling moves and we just use trample. Deliverance was OP, but you could do something about that. I'm not so sure you can stop an onslaught of 13 ruptures. How about eagle vs. dodging + tripleflash? I'm highly unimpressed all of a sudden. We made something more OP than Achaea's monks...and just think, bards are just as bad!
Shiri2008-01-11 04:40:37
What's BBT, and what're the moves we have that're equivalent to it?
Ildaudid2008-01-11 04:41:56
BBT is a backbreaker grapple that cuts health in half, if health is lower than 50% it instakills (I don't think we have anything that is 1/2 health that instakills, or cuts health in half. Isn't toadcurse and those things 1/3 not 1/2? to insta??)

oh yeah and I didn't add in all the punches, the psionics and the akrabi (charybdon) stinger balance that Imperian monks get. Thought just 1/3 of the skills from 2 skillsets were enough... if need be you can go look at the mind skills monks get as well
Shiri2008-01-11 04:42:24
What do we have that's like that?
Unknown2008-01-11 04:43:21
Yay you people sure failed with this!

I don't know, unless there is some left right up down X Y down left move that Tahtetso can do for a Fatality
Shiri2008-01-11 04:48:16
Yeah...sounds a hell of a lot better than deathtouch.

Psh, I ate monks alive as a Monk, Mage, Bard, and now Serpent. Heh, bring on those skills. Just remember that things like Kaibanish will have a 5 power cost.

It already exists as 10p here though as that maze thing in bards sad.gif

Serpents always could eat up monks, Shammy would make me pee myself with afflictions, but Terenas wow... he was and I guess still really is good as a Taekyon.

But remember we would build up our kai power by having our buddies hit us so we had tons of kai before a fight, so kai cripple, kai choke would really not even phase the kai... then of course there is that mindbursting skill that kills a person in the same area with you within 10seconds (and yea it is easy to avoid, but people wouldn't avoid it here, they would run to the forums to complain about it instead)

edit - oh yeah you don't count either, you always end up with all the cool equipment tongue.gif

BBT does not work like that in any of the realms I've seen. Also, BBT damage is affected by resistance. Mages with skins could tank multiple BBTs and laugh. Monks could tank BBTs and gain enough Kai, to Kai Heal the damage back to full. Priests could shield while prone, laughing at a BBT attempt. Last Serpents weaving could not be hit by Tekura anyhow, and a smart one would seek to fight on water stopping JPKs from setting up double breaks. I personally just freeze the ground, so I can see when the Monk is trying to leave to JPK/double hammerfist, shielding to block it.

In Imperian, BBT damages the back, which the person has to apply regeneration to heal. If the back is damaged twice without being healed, then the third BBT will kill the target.
Shiri2008-01-11 04:55:32
I dunno how you're supposed to avoid that on somewhere like Nil. What're you going to do, grab a cubix off someone really fast and run off without them?
Xavius2008-01-11 05:05:53
BBT's damage was pretty laughable. It was a paralyze skill. If it was an instakill, it never mattered to me.

Telepathy radiance was stopped by entering the same room as the monk. Everyone in Achaea has the ability to receive tattoos, and one of those tattoos was called the prism tattoo. You would just prism to the monk, stopping the attack. The good part was that the monk would remain off-equilibrium until radiance was nearly over. It was an insta-kill that took so long to complete, that most would lose a mind lock in the process (I don't remember exactly, but the insta-kill took near 20 seconds to complete). You also had enough time to get away, no matter the circumstance. The only way to balance it here in lust would be to make it impossible to use near a nexus.

Also, the monk could not perform any actions until the insta-kill was completed (once it was balanced).
