We know it isn't a bug. We still don't know why it happened.
Shiri2007-11-21 01:51:02
Regardless of whether it's a bug or not, change it so that it doesn't do that. The bugged function (or not) was a good way of having it. Giving druids ground sap? Not so much.
Xavius2007-11-21 01:52:02
Kalodan and I both agree with you.
This is definitely a lesser of two evils thing.

** There has been an update to announce 953 under the "general" heading. **
GENERAL
------------------------------------------------------
+ You can again climb up into the trees indoors, except in the "trees"
environment - which is the commune equivalent of "urban" and should only
appear in commune shops and other very limited instances.
EDIT: BUT THEY KEPT THE GROUND SAP!

Added new bit to the post, but for the sake of those who don't like to look back:

I'm kind of confused, under Moon it is listed that the banshee fae can now break captivate audience and under Night it says the Barghest can as well. Does this mean that Night users have two fae that can do it? Or is it only Moon users whose banshees can do it? Or did they mean to make it a Moon fae?

Unbelievable. I was told that the change to ground sap (which is utterly dumb. Give druids an edge outside their meld. Don't make them stronger within) was due to the fact that they couldn't climb up indoors anymore. I don't understand how this passed by envoys. It was completely unnecessary. Way to go.

Confused me too. I -think- it means that both the banshee and barghest does it now...so Shadowdancer's have twice the capability to do it. :/ Not sure though.

EDIT: Would be nice if someone tested this. -twiddle-

Xavius seems to think it was because they couldn't resolve the issue of whether it was a bug or not, hence this completely off-the-wall change. Now that the Divine have fixed that, though, we'll see if they're up to fixing the envoy change that was made solely as a result of that bug/change/whatever that has since been fixed/reversed/whatever.
Also, why did you guys keep it for trees? It doesn't matter nearly so much, but I don't see the point.
EDIT: I mean trees environment. I don't understand the point. Was it some kind of shop-based issue?
Arak2007-11-21 02:08:40
It's probably because elevations in a shop would mean you could wait in the trees, unnoticeable, and then follow into a stock-room without the owner even knowing. The owners shouldn't be risking theft just because they can't climb trees or don't have some sort of tree-sight skill.
EDIT: And druids totally need ground-sap. They're just gimpy without it.

I pray you're being sarcastic. You have no idea what you're talking about, if not.
Shiri2007-11-21 02:12:12
I don't think you can follow from different elevations like that.
And druids are NOT by any means whatsoever gimped without ground sap. Sap is still one of the strongest moves in the game even without this silly development. I don't think it will bork solo combat much though, since it's incredibly easy for druids to refuse to fight anywhere but the trees. Especially with the treebane change mostly preventing anyone from getting out of it.

Shishi2007-11-21 02:14:23
Well druids can kill shadowdancers now.
Arak2007-11-21 02:33:56
It was actually sarcasm, I thought that would be obvious since it's such a ridiculous statement.
And also, I didn't mean actually follow from the trees, just that someone could wait up there, knowing the shop-keeper was stocking soon, and spam down to try and get in. Er, on second thought, spamming down would make you come down from the trees first, wouldn't it? Well, anyways, it's still probably something of that sort. Or, possibly, they did it for realism? Since 'trees' is apparently in commune shops, maybe it's referring to them actually being built inside of the trees?

Xavius2007-11-21 02:37:16
If they changed the tree thing back, there's no need for ground sap, unless there's some massive druid uprising that demands it stay.

If there is, we'll PURGE them!

Xavius2007-11-21 02:42:20
Oh, psh. It's not that big of a difference. Fewer demesne effects hit you on the ground. Sap's delay will still be .5 seconds, in the trees or on the ground. It only takes a few seconds to add treelife to the queue.
Furien2007-11-21 02:52:47
Eh. Can't say I object to actually being able to kill Night users.

Actually, I still won't be able to kill any of you, but I'll be 70% more annoying, and that's saying something.
