Ok, so the people who correctly time serpent can get in. How do you expect to get everyone else in?
Teleport? Mass monolithing areas is an exercise in frustration and wasted comms most of the time. (Glomdoring is currently in the one lucky position where it isn't, mind, but everyone else has it.)

EDIT: And, actually, they can't, because distortion drops serpent and stun stops mount spur.

I'd imagine the new bard anti-tree/sky one would trigger on someone changing elevation, too-- everything else does, as it still counts as "entering the room".
Shiri2007-10-12 04:26:43
You can probably still get in with serpent if you're lucky. It's just a matter of not getting ganked by the tick before you can move some more.
Unknown2007-10-12 11:33:52
Distortion shouldn't stop serpent.
Shiri2007-10-12 11:35:26
It probably still should. I am also inclined to say divinefire but I don't know if it already does that.

Gwylifar2007-10-12 13:24:37
What about ghost, dreamweaving, and similar forms of phasing? Heck, why am I the one trying to come up with ways? I was never any good at that sort of thing.

Again, how're you going to get the rest of them in? Superpowered uberteleport that bypasses distort? Should raiding be limited to those who phase?

Have I mentioned before that I hate distort?
I don't mind it stopping people from teleporting out of the village. I'd like to see it changed so it doesn't stop any magical entry into the village, and it shouldn't interfere with defenses or anything similar. It shouldn't stop anyone from raiding, it should just increase the risk by making it drastically more difficult to get out again.
Shiri2007-10-12 14:06:41
I'm pretty sure you can teleport into distort, just not out of it.
EDIT: The fact I got ninja'd by another post above me with the exact same complaint tells me either that I'm wrong or that this is one of those serial assumptions that someone gets from a contaminated announce post supply and infects other people with via forum posts. Hmm.

Revan2007-10-12 14:28:30
Distort has always been a crutch for pacifists so defending anywhere is trivial. I'd rather see distort removed, or just have the "no teleporting out" application.
Acrune2007-10-12 16:42:14
And the "might make ghosts solid" one. Ghosts have it easy enough raiding as is.
Xenthos2007-10-12 17:21:41
Distort already pulls beings into phase, Gwyl.

8.6.1 DISCRETIONARY POWER
The Power Ministry in cities and communes can allocate monthly reserves
which guilds can use on discretionary power. Most of these powers are
only usable by guilds of a specific archetype.
NEXUS DISTORT (any guild)
- Can only be done at a village obelisk that the city or commune controls.
- Creates a distortion field surrounding the entire village.
- Prevents any enemy of the city/commune from using most forms of mystic
transport, such as teleport, tesseract, spores, hermit, etc.
- Prevents enemies from burrowing, shakes enemies out of ghost form and
disrupts prismatic barriers around enemies.
- Lasts one game day (60 minutes) for cities.
- If placed in a village, will last until the village revolts.
- Costs 2000 power if used at a village obelisk.
- Costs 500 power if used at the city or commune nexus.
You -can- teleport into a distorted village. Aesyra and I just did this recently. Apparently it does drop serpent which I did not know. Hm when did distort get such a big buff?

While you were an enemy? Can you teleport from within to within the same village?
Quick reading of the help file seems to suggest you shouldn't be able to teleport in or not. In any case, it's way too much right now.

Stop making me think there is a new envoy report!
Move the conversation to the "no more raiding" thread please.
Or should I move it for you?

sorry! and yes I am enemied to every org. Who knows sooner or later to Seren. We teleported into Angkrag. Distortion actually even stops people from following others from transversing to the ethereal plane. Weird huh? It doesn't stop someone from doing it, just someone from following someone else from doing it.

That's not a feature of distort, actually. I can't follow someone into the Sea of Despair, and I lose my entourage when I go into it.
Krellan2007-10-13 03:33:03
Actually it is. I'm not talking about transversing in. I know exactly how the walking into enemy territory works with entourages. I'm talking about transversing out. I looked back and it said that the distortion nullifies the travel or something. Though I believe this specifically only works on a certain rift. That would be all the catacombs rifts.

ANNOUNCE NEWS #938

From: Roark Libertas
To : Everyone
Subj: Two Changes
Shofangi's Shred has been upgraded.
Shieldsmash has been altered. It's damage has been toned down. It also
cannot outright destroy a shield. All it does is damage the shield until
it hits 0, and then it does nothing. Along with this is a fix that we
actually wanted to do all along from the beginning but forgot about.
Armour and shields will take tiny amounts of damage when used in combat.
They become less effective as they get get more beat up. This will
require a forger to repair them periodically. So essentially all that
shieldsmash does is hasten the process (and, for combat purposes, make
your shields weaker).

I guess forgers are going to have something else to do now. How was shred upgraded? Just more bleeding or whatever?
Ildaudid2007-10-24 21:07:21
What about fullplate, it doesn't go do and have to be mended right? Or does it?
