Yeah, um, that isn't a bug. You're not SUPPOSED to be able to do that.

Actually, if you are already in the trees, you should probably be able to leave or you're kinda stuck there, but you shouldn't be able to enter them again *shrugs*
Shamarah2007-02-28 01:28:24
Oh, you're supposed to be able to leave, but you're not supposed to be able to enter. You can now because of this "bug fix".

You were able to leave by climbing down.
Morgfyre2007-02-28 01:30:43
Ah. It seems the AB file was simply not updated to reflect the recent envoy change. I'll look into it and adjust Brumetower accordingly.
Thanks for pointing that out.

Blocked everything except walking the other direction and getting geysered out.

That was part of the envoy report change... we were trying to make it so you could get *down* under any circumstance, but not *up*.

1. Hailstorm change. What?!
2. Camouflage change. I don't understand this, but if it does what I think it does, can we have it work on blend please? The skill is really useless in a lot of situations because if you leave forest, it drops, and then doesn't resume even when you go back in a forest. So in something like a village where you can have flood, forest and both kinds of taint intermittently you just cannot sustain it at all. It seems logical that the def should stay up but only remain active during forests, similar to Night which stays up but is only active when the sun's down. If I've misunderstood what this camouflage fix was, can someone please explain it?
Ildaudid2007-03-08 06:23:18
Hah, lets give hailstorm one more way to obliterate people.... I guess if Boulderblast could already work while flying it is only fair to let Hailstorm do the same.
Camo works on unforested areas too I camo on astral, but what is camo anyways? a trackers yesod or does it stack or something?

Shryke2007-03-08 07:33:43
sorry, who was vying for a hail upgrade? wtf?
Shiri2007-03-08 09:11:44
It probably wasn't an upgrade so much as something bugged that happened when hailstorm was executed from the air. And they just chose to fix it in this way.
Ild: so far as I know, camouflage is like a tracker's yesod. Blend used to be called camouflage but they randomly changed the name a while ago.

It makes perfect sense that hailstorm works from the air.
Now we just need boulderblast to work from underground.

Callus2007-03-08 14:34:48
Really, Geos have no abilities that work with Burrow... Want something special undeground besides breathing dirt and not being able to do anything!
Clise2007-03-09 00:28:35
Burrowing is hard-coded that way, you can't change it for Geos without changing it for everyone I think.

Not if they give a Geomancer a skill that can only be used from underground. Druids had one called something like Spring on Achaea.

You can drink while underground. So, if there's one command that can be done underground, it seems like there could be others.
Unknown2007-03-10 07:33:49
Taking an educated guess, it would have to be a separate verb. So it couldn't just be a GEOCAST whatever, without making all GEOCASTs usable underground and then disabling each specific Geomancy spell. But it should be possible, although I make no allegations about how easy it would be, to give us a skill or two that could be used underground.
Plus, it would just be uber-sexy. What if we could play gravedigger, and pull people underground? They wouldn't be able to do anything except burrow above (they did change it so everyone can do that, right? Because of the dreamweavers?) but it would still be fun to randomly pull people underground. And have an aggressive wyrm above ground. Although I've never seen them actually do anything to a burrowing person. I'll have to go try it now.

Actually, it was done for a different reason, I think. People kept finding themselves underground due to a bug, I believe. The dreamweaver being stuck underground (*mutter* *mutter*) thing was an unrelated issue with the command being not set as useable in dreamform. The dreamweaver in question was bound to Groundhog, and thus could burrow, just not in dreamform at the time.
This Hailstorm "bugfix" is ridiculous. The skill was already vastly overpowered and unbalancing to group combat, as it not only hits every enemy in your room or an adjacent room for (nearly) staff damage (about 1k), it hits all elevations of the target room indiscriminately.

As a faeling with like 2.6k health, nice robes with cold protection, and frost up, but without any resistance or other things from skills, I was taking like 2k. before he went Demi, heh.
