I've been wondering, if you were hartstone and then you quit and went to blacktalon, would you only lose the specialized skills like druidry and stag but keep the ones like nature and totems and runes/dreamweaving?

I'd think you'd just lose Stag o_O And by lose, I mean, you have to forget it before you can join Blacktalon.
Archthron2005-06-01 18:46:26
Isn't druidry different though? I mean like the scarab thing instead of sap and the different cudgel and all?

To my great amusement, a friend of mine has discovered something very interesting. A blacktalon druid without Crow lays the same demesne as a hartstone druid. Once they take Crow, all of the extra abilities filter in.
Erion2005-06-01 19:01:17
Har, anyway. A druid would ONLY need to forget Stag. As a novice, they can HAVE Druidry, but they cannot put anything into it, until they're out of novicehood. It was the same with the Shadowdancers, we had a lot of novices w/ Fae, because they came from the Moondancers.

Woah, so a Blacktalon could choose to not take Crow, and then they could do things like meld the Etherwilde and Seren villages? blink.gif

Edit: Not that they couldn't meld Seren villages anyway, but that would just be *confusing* as anything to we non-druids wink.gif
Erion2005-06-01 19:06:19
Yes, they could. I urged him not to take Crow, buy some credits, and meld the Serenwilde. They'd never know it, until it was too late. >:)

Sadly, not everyone is as sadistic as me, I guess.
Erion2005-06-01 19:06:54
AND meld Faethorn, WITHOUT forceforesting. smile.gif
Archthron2005-06-01 19:08:15
Nice.

Ah yes my slave.. he is so much fun. Makes being Keeper worth it.
Erion2005-06-01 20:05:33
Heh. Yes, I've heard. I suggested that collar, by the way. tongue.gif

Destroying nature: causing it to cease existing as natural.

Sickening nature: causing it to weaken in disease.

(italics text added)

This is exactly what they do, isn't it? I think it would be an interesting viewpoint to take on, wielding forest-based powers but being interested in causing natural areas to become rotting and rank with disease. Remember, you are TAINTING forest. Not making it unpretty. Ruining the natural essence of it, twisting and corrupting it into a more powerful but abhorrent form.

Insanity or sadism seems to me some of the best options there.
Erion2005-06-01 23:23:48
THEY don't view it as tainting. And, just because your brother is sick and ill, might have skin necrosis or leprosy.. he's still your brother, mate. Still a part of your family. tongue.gif
Elryn2005-06-01 23:26:47
Yeah, but if your brother sets about burning down parts of your house, murdering your parents and playing games with their corpses... you generally don't overlook that.

And even though they don't see it as tainting, they still see the results, presumably.

Maybe more people would be willing to join if Nyla wasnt your admin. I heard about his recent stunt regarding village defense, and his ordering all of Blacktalon not to defend one of your village. And it just makes me wonder how you can all tolerate him.

His hatred of the taint also annoys me, I can understand not acknowledging it like Viravain. But to hate it you must first acknowledge it, and if you acknowledge that the taint exists, you cant deny that it exists in Glomdoring.

Here is a example: Nyla tells you, "The taint is wretched.
Erion2005-06-02 01:55:04
Yea, see, I don't understand it either. Har. But I find it utterly amusing. All he needs to do is change "taint" for "Cities" or "civilization". Bam. Done. Or, even better! "They're wretches who use the higher-planes." Woot. Buut no. "I can't see taint, don't recognize it, don't believe it, but, hot damn, you're tainted!"

I am tolerated cause I do a good job. And Nyla wouldnt be anti taint if certain people in the Glomdoring were giving the Blacktalon the finger and running to nurse from Magnagora
Erion2005-06-02 01:58:04
It's not that you're doing a good job. You're just doing a better job than the rest of the administration.
